First change was 45 miles,, now at 125 miles second oil change.. I use the paper/synthetic material filters and did so at start up.. oil T-4 was mostly clean and some small metal flakes/ glitter in it and in the pleats of filter.

Get a weird knocking noise at around 4K rpm.. almost like valves knocking.. I run 89 oct gas.. have not checked valve clearance but might do that soon.. not a ton of riding due to weather was cold but now getting better.

did a WOT run and got to like 71-72 on stock sprockets.

hope the glitter clean up.. got the magnetic drain plug but not sure what it will catch.. :)

picture.. catching some disney fireworks with the wife on board, from lake at campground..

Thought about going up on the fuel octane level? I have a 2024 Hawk X (with carburetor) and I run 93 octane ethanol-free.

Pulled the top cam cover off to see that I could see.. usual gear, chain etc.. some oil in cover with some metal flakes mostly tiny stuff..

took cover off starter.. interesting.. got more oil, bike was leaned over on kick stand, and the whole gear thing come out :) ,,,more flakes of metal some a bit larger.. apparently the shaft stays in the cover and the gear slides off with washer behind it when you get it off..

was not to hard to get back on ,, had to move the gear a bit couple times to get meshed with gear in engine.. Long bolt on bottom..

adjusted chain the other day to like 1/4 slack.. after my 40 or so mile rider yesterday it was up to 1/2"
