I'm getting my bike tomorrow! YaY~! I passed the written bike test at WA.dot this afternoon with a 95% and I'm all stoked to start driving around. Funny thing tho, my 'learner's permit' expires 2 days before my driving portion of the test. I wonder if they will hold that against me..... Anywho, I've got the bike prep printed, I've got my loc-tite, my electric tape, and my digital camera together, so hopefully I'll have some new photos for the gallery. I look forward to posting later!

What kind of bike are you getting Daddy? The folks here were very helpful to me when I put together my Hi-Bird a few weeks ago.

I'm getting a GY-5 real deal Lifan. The only problem I see so far is that I'm @ work instead of @ home with tools at the ready 8)

Just think. You have hours of taking your time and doing everything right before you can ride it. hehehe

Holy freakin hell you do! Unless you've done this many times before, plan on making a weekend out of it. It took my brother (who is mechanically inclined) and myself 8 hours to get it to the point of starting it up! And then another week of tinkering to get everything (so far) right!
Good luck...and frequent these forums for all the help you need!

I think you have screwed up buying a motorcycle. They are worse than narcotics. You will soon be "hooked" for life. I have been addicted for over 45 years. May god have mercy on your sole. Hope you have many years to enjoy your Lifan.

Nice! I got my bike delivered have have begun the assembly. It is a whole lot easier than I thought - and the quality is waaaaaay better than I hoped for. The parts that are together are really REALLY together. The front part of the electrical is kinda confusing to me tho : / none of the original wiring paths made any sense to me so I fixed it :D. The bike is 'soft' put together so everything is in place it just needs to be loc-tited down. A couple of things tho
1. I can't find the positive battery cable to save my life
2. The rear axle is on, the chain is aligned, it appears to have the proper slack, but the tensioners are loose which worries me. Also, the assembly that goes inside the swing arm to tension the chain has a side with tapers and a side that is straight up and down, since I do not have any instructions at all can someone tell me how they are supposed to go?
So far I'm super impressed with this bike. Aside from a really nasty scratch on the plastic from the shipping metal thingy I have no complaints. Errr, assembly instrucitons would have been nice, but hey, I still play with Legos on occasion 8)
Tomorrow: Final crank down, + battery connection finding, fueling, and enshallah - riding :D

Aight, this morning I found the positive battery cable - I guess I just needed some sleep and some sunlight. You can see my new baby mostly assembled here:

Good job Daddy, It took me three evenings before I got mine running but I sit around, open a beer, and "study" the bike while assembling. My next one will take 1/3 the time.
Who did you buy the bike from? How much did it cost?

KK, I've got it together, and it started right up!!!!!! I was fearful that it woudln't so I took and extra EXTRA long time putting stuff together. I went for a short jaunt around my hood and now I'm waiting for it to cool down enough to check all the nuts and bolts. That bike is sooooo forgiving. I haven't rode a motorcycle in some years, but this Lifan is smooth as glass and has plenty of power to get you there in a hurry. Of course the fastest I'll ever go is ~ 50, but hey w/e.

I got it from http://motoxtreme.net/. I just took the kiddies around the block. I think I'm earning extra cool dad points. My neighbors are asking a lot of questions so I'm thinking we are gonna have a Lifan fan club in the near future. Aight, I'm going to go adjust something, I'll see ya'all later :D

60KM and counting . . . . those neighborhood miles have been rough, having to stop and answer questions all the time. Classic.
