So my speedo is off by 5-6 mph ( says I’m doing 55 when I’m doing 50) front tire is 21 inches just wondering what size rim would correct the error since you can’t adjust the meter

Install a speed calibrator like the SpeedoDRD. It will get it dead on accurate.

Do you have a link for something you can recommend that isn't close to $80? I'm not trying to be sarcastic and appreciate your recommendation.

The SpeedoDRD u1 is a universal calibrator. Run $70. But you can search on eBay and find for less. All you have to do is cut the plugs off and wire it per the universal units. They are all the same but with different plugs. I've pick of a few over the years for $50-60. https://www.ebay.com/itm/305238131835?_skw=speedodrd+u1&itmmeta=01JQEYDN4VTNA132CNG9F6GTFP&hash=item47119c447b:g:CVcAAOSwbl9dQHX8&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1fC2jATq s7WWvIBqaSYUubCjVOMI7VEyuFnnh0kR%2Ba%2BbwAz0mOW056 sfGvcxZ4XZkDtHh%2BbIPUVLDoc%2FnUw2gvxmKwM8pd1KDNvj 2vzvDKWfjPo9iFgWVxM4TjQXJps7MCiF86exvtWimo6jzZFhI0 7ZqbCHqXdQrs%2BmFaXLZrkSyKWIu%2FiUvISg9nyNueVovCQf B5gyyPDyrZjJy%2BwhAB0rT9%2B%2FPZZS3TMlslA58Wmg%2FZ jkJ%2BK5IFzYIFazl3%2FB3PnjhwYtMB44LMxTq7DiRZ1%2FRU mg3eEZejZkqnDCs2IrA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6zTtt67ZQ

I've installed them on just about every bike i have owned. Never owned a bike that had an accurate speedometer either until i installed the SPeedoDRD.

You can also just change the front tire to a size larger.
7% should be the most accurate over reading of the speedo.
So if you can find a tire that's close to 7% taller in outer circumference, you'll have the easiest fix.
Thicker tires may also be better for off-road, but even if you can only find tires that will be only 3 to 5% taller, it'll still correct the speedo enough that it probably won't even be an issue anymore.

Calibrate it or install a gps speedometer. 5 mph off is not bad, some japanese bikes are worse than that. Somethink that it might be to cover motorcyclists from speeding tickets but I beleive it is due to the fact evenery country not just china has looser regs on speedometer readings, and reading slightly faster than actual speed is more favorable than reading slightly slower.
They have generic gps speedometers, I would get one of the cheap ones just to test gps speed vs speedometer speed, and jhawk250 already mentioned calibrators.
Unless this is the last bike you plan to own, a cheap usb powered gps speedo is a good investment, use it for any bike or even for older cars where you might think the speedo might be off. You can use a cell phone too for this feature but I prefer a dedicated device.
