Last time I adjusted my valves (650 miles ago) I still noticed the clackety clack. When I did my new adjustment I made sure to spin the push rod before making adjustment.I also noticed that you need to pry up a bit on rocker to remove the slack. This most recent adjustment sounds much better.

Also. What is this fitting for?Is it a port for a cooler connection?

I did my valve adjustments today too and was wondering what that was in the valve cover myself.

I am willing to bet that is something for smog stuff.... not 100% sure I have never had to deal with smog stuff.

I did my valves this morning while I was working on everything else.
Compared to my Suzuki, it was a piece of cake. It took me 15 minutes tops to do the adjustment. My Suzuki takes a couple of hours as they are harder to get at.
You can make a nice valve adjustment tool out of a wire nut and a square head screw. Simply cut down the screw and insert it into the wire nut. Now you have a tool for turning the square end of the adjuster for doing your valves.
I have a picture if I could figure out how to add it here.[/img]

After a good warmup and a little mud, little bit of tick in the 5000 rpm range.Good to go!
I think the key when adjusting is the upward pressure on the rocker to remove any slop.
