View Full Version : GY-5 Fuel Capacity
Today I ran out of gas. I switched over to reserve and drove about another 6 miles to a gas station. At the gas station I filled up the tank and it took 2.91 gallons to fill it up. This is strange because I thought my fuel capacity was 2.7 gallons including the reserve. I reckon that the tank is at least 3 gallons. Anyone else have similar experience. I'd hate to think that the Exxon was doping their pumps.

okay that explains it then. its prolly 3.4 with .7 reserve would equal 2.7 main fuel or thereabouts. I still want to test to see how deep my reserve is. Just havent gotten the gumption to do it.
thanks kato.

Just carry a small can of gas with you and go for a ride. When you run it completely out then you have the can to get you to the station.

With a Hi-Bird carrying extra gas is mandatory for trail rides. See my latest ride report for pictures.

I pushed my 2007 American Lifan 200GY-5 into a gas station after running out on reserve and it held 2.9 gallons.
