That bike looks freakin sweet. Too bad about the hub! Have you been able to ride it yet? If so, how fast will that thing run?

I have put 800+ miles on it so far, its been great except for the hub thing and a few wires fell off. I also had to adjust the carb needle and do the standard locktite thing. Topped the bike out at 85 without going into redline, but that is according to the speedo on it, and that thing is not very precise. I am getting a custom sprocket made to get more top speed and drop the RPMs alittle at 55, once I get it put on Ill do a run with a GPS unit and get the exact top speed...

The rear hub looks like you should have checked the bolts there when you assembled the bike, as it says in the set-up area. Check All bolts to make sure they are tight. I have seen this as a common thing on a lot of dirtbikes that are drop-shipped. This is part of what any good dealer does is check all & every bolt on the machine to make sure they are all tight. I rarely use loctite when I assemble any vehicle that I sell, but I Torque each & every bolt for the size to it's specs. A Torque wrench can be purchased almost anyplace today and as anything the cheaper they are that is what you get. A good medium priced torque wrench will last for years if taken care of. I have 4 of them in my shop from 1/4" drive to 1/2" drive.

Are the bolts holding your sprocket also studs on the other side like mine. They are like studs that go into the hub with a threaded end where the nut goes, but the studs come right out easily when disassembling. In fact, the only thing holding the sprocket on is the retaining clip ring. The studs are the driving force to the hub. If so, I could see how this could happen if the studs were partially seated and the clip ring had somehow come off.

I do have a torque wrench, actually I have a whole garage full of tools. I have been turbocharging/customizing cars for a while now, not to mention fixing. Those were the four bolts I didnt check when getting the bike ready, mostly from inexperience with motorcycles (only two years riding). BUT, as you can see all the mounting holes are ripped out, so I am guessing that all four bolts were there when it happened. The other thing I didnt do was check the chain tension, it may have been too much... I also rode my girl on it, and we were pretty close to the 300lb weight limit, Im thinking that the stress may have done it too. I already fixed the hub, torqued down the bolts and used locktite just incase. Made the chain tention smaller, time will tell if this was good enough. If not Ill be having a custom hub made, expensive but cheaper then a hospital bill...

I'll be posting pictures of my road bike similar to yours. Its my 2nd Chinese bike and it comes with a 200cc engine. The first one which I still have, is an off road 150 cc and is still running strong ( My Chinariders forum introduction (http://chinariders.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=353)). If have so far put almost 25k miles on it and is currently commutting to and from work using the 2nd bike.
How the vibration on you bike at high speed? Its pretty bad on mine, both my speedo and fuel guage are erratic all time because of the vibration.
Before looking at the pictures you've posted, I thought mine was made in Thailand, at least that was what the importer told me. It is said they're plenty of these 200cc small roadbikes in Thai, even the cops are using these. Now I know the true origin of these bikes : China!!

The vipbrations are actually more at low RPMs then high, I think the worst is around 5k. Im having a custom sprocket made to get more top speed, 10% tooth drop in the back. I had to tighten all the bolts and put a few rubber seals in to make the plastic not rattle, now it sounds alot better. Also, if your vibrations are too bad, I heard someone fixed theirs by adding rubber booshings to the motor mounts, I am considering doing that myself... I saw a bunch of bikes that look like a copy of mine for sale under different names, one of them was a step better because it had dual disk brakes on the front and a single disk in the back (I got single disk front and drum back), but I saw it after I bought mine. I am very curious to see yours, maybe we can share repair information lol. good job with the 25k, thats alot of miles on the china motor =)

My Roketa seems very smooth throughout the entire RPM range. At idle is doesn't even vibrate much. I wonder if the OHC motor is a little smoother, maybe??

Ditto. I was thinking the same thing. It seems very well balanced through the entire rpm range. Any little vibs that were coming through the grips have all but been eliminated with the barend weights.

That is an awefull event to take place and glad that you are allright!

One thing about these Chinese motorcycles that everyone needs to understand is that they are not designed for heavy duty or extreme use. In my mind, why would you want to push a 200cc bike to that 85 mph limit? At that speed, with only 4 bolts holding that hub together, if one bolt is loose to start with, that extra force is delivered to the other three and they will all fail in sequence, in your case, rapid sequence that resulted in destruction of the hub as you witnessed. All it takes is one loose bolt to get it started. Like Bruce stated, these are as important to check in the assembly process as attaching the handlebars. Most dealers know this and as I said in a previous post, when you are in the position acting as a human bullet, I leave nothing unchecked.

I know that the Lifan DP bikes will take you to 70 mph, but if you keep pushing it that far, you will have circumstances happen similar to yours. I understand the sprocket ratios are different on the two bikes, but you are still placing a tremendous force on the rear wheel to reach those high speeds and something is bound to give at some point. If the intent is there to drive that fast, you will have to do some modifying and upgrading to get the bike in a position you desire and safely run it.

I am just glad that you are here making posts after that event!

Vlad, that's good advice. These bikes do pretty well for what they were designed for: on / off road riding at reasonable speeds. As fast as I used to run all my crotch rockets, I don't see myself doing 90 MPH on my Roketa, even if it WAS geared to do it!

indeed, thats actually the main reason i went with the lifan 200cc, i could afford something much nicer aka drz400sm...

I don't want to be able to go fast because after my last accident on my crotch rocket at 90mph, i am kinda afraid to risk myself that way again... granted you can die from a 30mph accident, but id rather have a slow speed wreck then high..

i just want to bomb around some back road and carve corners, take some fire roads and power line roads around the area and also be able to put the bike on a bike holder in my reciever hitch of my jeep.

Other then that, i have expectations that will match the limitations of these bikes. for me, its a good thing they dont get 90+ mph. :)
