my rear sprocket hub shattered yesterday for the second time. I read today that the sprocket bolts backed out, caused vibs & in turn shattered the hub. I know were to get a replacement hub & loctite will fix the bolts, but I was wondering if any1 has put a different rear wheel assembly on their bike ? like a rear wheel setup of an ninja 250. any info is appreciated.

thanks

I have been looking at this for a while too.

Your best option is to find a bike graveyard. Pull a swing arm and wheel from a Rebel or some bike that uses a drum brake. Then cut and re-weild the swingarm bolt area. This shouldn't cost much more than $50 even if you have to pay someone to weild for you.

Also, use the drum brake from the doner bike and attach it to the existing lever system on the chinabike. This might require minor length ajustments.

An old CB 350 wheel is a 3.5" by 18". Drum rear but they work better than you'd think. I do NOT know if that would fit your application. XL 185? I don't know, sorry "smoke".
