Well guys, I ordered the Roketa DB-07A yesterday from xxx-motorsports.com. I'll be sure to post pics of the assembly & any hang-ups I come across.

Sounds great Man!!! If you plan to use it for the road, get the MCO taken care of ASAP. It's a pretty nice bike, and I'm sure you'll love it!

sounds great,...and good luck with it...!.........
thats exactly what I have,...and where I bought it..............
their service was great,.....as mentioned above, after you receive your bike, order the MSO.........all my paperwork [MSO,..bill of sale,...invoice]
was all nicely done,...very professional........and met the DMV's approval with no problem.
***note on ordering the MSO..at the time I did mine, about 3 wks ago,...their online MSO request was not working properly. I called them and they said that there was indeed a problem with their site, so they handled it right then on the phone. I paid the extra for overnight service,...had it in my hands 2 days later.
Roadrunner/Dawes trucking I felt could have been a little quicker,...but it arrived eventually, and with no problems.
I am well pleased with the bike, considering the great price. Assembly wasnt a problem, as I have assembled many, many jap bikes during my years at the bike shops.
What takes the most time is running/routing things like cables, wires, etc. where they fit and lay the best...........basically tidying everything up,...then doing a once over of all fasteners.
As mentioned in other posts, be sure to change your oil [24 mm wrench size plug, left side, below/in front of, shift lever] , and some have said to rinse out the fuel tank....mine was quite clean, so I just filled it w/ gas and started it up..............I did drain the float bowl, though, and let some fresh gas make its way through there.
Again,....good luck!.........and any questions, bring them here...someone has probably already been there/figured it out....whatever it is.

One more thing to check. At least 3 of us (myself included) received the DB07A without the fuel line being connected to the carb. I had to pull off some plastic to get to it, but check that before you start filling up the tank.

You may want to consider some heavier fuel line and put in an in line filter as they don't come on them. Also, you know all about tightning bolts etc. but check you plug wire first thing and make sure that it is held securely in the clip on the motor. If not, as with mine it was laying right on the exhaust pipe and and melted through because I didn't notice it.Naturally the enigine died and it took a few minutes to figure it out. I trimmed off all of the melted stuff and wrapped it good with electrical tape. It works fine now but I was worried that I would need a new wire. One more thing. SHORE UP YOUR BATTERY BOX! I used some heavy duty strip ties and went from the bottom of the battery box up to the frame and it seems to work fine. These battery boxes are hung in and odd cantilever way that puts alot of stress on the mounts. All minor stuff. These guys here are full of great tips that I put to use when I got my Roketa. Check the MCS that comes with the bike. If is says motorcyle instead of dirt bike you shouldn't have any trouble with registration.
ENJOY!

I decided to get the Roketa DB07 too! Mine's supposed to be here on Monday. My dad is going to come help me assemble it Tuesday and I'll make sure to take a bunch of pictures! I can't wait to get this thing on the road. About how long did it take you to get your MSO without overnighting it?

I got it together without much of a problem. Lots of loose bolts, but that wasn't a problem either. Fuel line was too long & kinked, took care of that. Got it fired up, ran it around the block in the rain, 9pm, it's dark, I'm happy. Today I get it out after work to double check everything & notice the front brake caliper sliding back & forth. I'm thinking the disc is bent. Nope, the hub is whacked & needs replaced. A bit disappointing, but what it happens. So monday I will start my quest to get the front wheel replaced.
I'd like to chat with some other people that got a Roketa from xxx-motorsports to see how their warranty parts experience was and to see how their assemble went.
Thanks!

Sorry about the messed up wheel. I know the feeling and excitement of getting that bike together to ride it. I got mine back in the summer, and thanks to the prep work and assembly of Thomas Rush at RPM, I rode that bike every day for a couple of hours back in the summer. Is this your first ride? (bike)
madmaximum
03-03-2007, 07:11 AM
My first ride was a Kawasaki Coyote mini bike wayyyy back when. I'm not sure how many bikes I've had in between the Coyote & the Roketa, probably 15-20.
But yes, you are right, I am disappointed. I'm hoping I don't have to wait a month to get the parts, especially with a 30 day warranty!
On a lighter side, a lot of my friends and neighbors have been stopping by to check it out, even pitching in to help get it together. They are all impressed with the bike so far. None of us has been able to figure out the proper translation of the warning sign that was on the plastic bag covering the bike.

mad......I cant report on any warranty experience w/XXX, but my assembly went pretty good. I have assembled bikes in the past, at my job, so that helped. The assembly instructions are more of just a very small guide, to get you in the right direction.
I found most things up front not routed very well at all [wires, cables, hoses, etc] I took everything off, so there was basically just bare handlebars and the main harness coming from under the tank sticking out,...and started over. I like things neat and somewhat orderly,...for me, that was the way to proceed. Also, the Chinese dont seem to be much on shouldered bolts, or rubber bushings w/metal sleeve inserts........so I replaced a lot of fasteners in that area.
But all in all,.....enjoyed working on it, and ready to do another!
[but I guess one is all I need..........]
***as far as warranty, some here have mentioned great service from XXX
good luck w/ it!

A few things that needed attention on mine:
The left side cover needed ground down some to fit over the airbox
Not a tight bolt on the exhaust anywhere...most others were ok
56 tooth rear sprocket
I also noticed it says 2005 on the steering stem. Did I get a leftover that was sitting in the warehouse?

it will be 17 characters, starting with "A"
check the 10th digit [represents the model year]
5 = 2005 model
6 = 2006 model
7 = 2007 model

I'd atleast get the 06 rear sprocket from them for free. That 56 tooth will top out at like 50 - 55 mph. The 06's have a 46 rear and are geared perfect for street riding. They really should have told you. Good luck with the front hub. Is the hub itself tweeked? Can you get it somewhat straight with spoke adjustment?

I contacted xxx-motorsports a little bit ago with my concerns. My initial question was what to do about the hub. I'll cut & paste the conversation.
[Dale] I’m sorry you will need to put in a parts request form on our website. Please do so by going to the home page of the website then go to the customer service tab and parts request form. Once they have looked that over they will email you with a confirmation letting you know they got the email and get back to you with availability and pricing! Thanks!
[Tracy] i have another question also. The bike I received is a 2005 model. Why didn't I receive a 2007 model?
[Dale] which bike did you order?
[Tracy] the db-07a
[Dale] They are all exactly the same between the 05 and 07, they are manufactored out of china so we do not control which year model is shipped to us
[Tracy] ok
The operator has ended the chat. Thanks for contacting us.
I liked the idea of requesting a different sprocket, but he cut out on me before I could ask.

Well those results don't impress me with xxx one bit. They should know their product better then that. The bikes are obviously NOT identical between 05 and 07. What's the deal with the front hub? Wasn't that damaged when you got the bike? Should be warranty item. Sorry you're going through this, but it helps the whole community to know which dealers stand behind their product and which ones don't. Good luck with everything, keep us posted.

Ya need to get on the phone with a live person and if that person can't help you ask to speak to his/her supervisor and so on, you'll get nowhere trying to IM a company... Be as nice as possible though, it usually will get you farther and compile a list of what you are going to talk to them about so you don't get side tracked and leave anything out...

Madmax,
In any future correspondence with xxx, be sure to subltly remind them that you are a member of and heard about them on a sight dedicated to china bikes and you would hate to see their reputation recieve less of a review than they would prefer to see..
In addition if I recall correctly, some other members of china riders may have contacted Roketa directly to resolve some issues. www.roketa.com
When I got my Roketa I emailed the owner of xxx-motorsports directly over a couple of minor issues and recieved good responses. Just be aware that your email filter may automatically dispose of any email coming from an address that begins with xxx.. lol
If your MCO or MSO states 2007 even though the bike is built in 2005, is it a 2005 or a 2007?, Does it really matter if the bike was new and not used? My guess is you might have some recourse somewhere if they represented the bike as a 2007 on your bill of sale or if you can retrace the original add when you made your decision to purchase the bike. There are alot of DB-07a owners out there.. What have your experiences been?
Sucks about your front hub, they should send you a whole new front tire. I hope you are able to get this all worked out and get on the trails soon..

Thanks for all the replies & suggestions guys. I submitted a claim with them yesterday for the damage to the front hub. I gave the part number for the entire front wheel, so we will see how that goes. I also ordered the MCO at the same time. I have not heard back from them about the claim, so I will give them until tomorrow before I call.
I'm not sure of the differences between the '05, '06, & '07 models, so if you guys know, let me know so I can have some ammo for my call. I'll try to get a picture on my post so you can see what the '05 models look like. It does have the 56 tooth rear sprocket.

UPDATE: (sorry, this is kinda long)
Last Monday I ordered my MSO and also placed a claim for the front hub. 2 days later I got an email asking for the VIN number again. I replied to that email with the VIN number. Waited a day & fired off another email asking if everything was OK with the VIN. NO reply. As for the claim for the front hub, NO reply at all. Their website states that all claims for warranty parts or shipping damage will be answered in 12-24 hours. I gave them a full week, & called today. First guy I spoke to was very nice, & when I told him I had received a 2005 he seemed pretty concerned, couldn't figure out why. We spoke about the MSO, which he said would be shipped in the next day or two because they were very busy, same reason for the claim for the hub. He said he would check some stuff out & someone would call me back. I received a call back about an hour later from the guy I had chatted with online, Dale. He said that like cars, this was probably made in 2005, but was a 2006 model. I'm thinking to myself, yeah, it says 2005 on the stem, probably made in 2004. He also told me that the parts guy would call me or email me today about the hub. No call, no email. That is where I stand right now.
One other thing I want to mention, when I was putting the bike together, I noticed that the guides on the frame right behind the steering stem on both sides were bent down. These guides have the cables & wiring pass through them. I did not realize until looking at pictures of other bikes on here, but these guides were both broken off at the top. After brooding over this for a bit, I'm pretty sure they were broken off like that to allow easy removal of cables, wiring, etc, and that, coupled with the 2005 model year tells me I received a bike that they had stripped parts off of & then reassembled to ship.
So guys, please, if you purchased a bike from xxx-motorsports in the past 6 months or so, let me know what year bike you received. I need as much ammunition as I can get for my next call. Also, do you guys agree with my assumption?
Thanks for reading, sorry so long!
mdsuave13
03-12-2007, 09:19 PM
regardless of their excuse, i would be kinda pissed about the fact that it was older, the MCO should have the date that the bike was built, my bike was built september 29th 2006.. which makes it a late 06 or an 07.. but i would check your mco when you get it and see what it says, they can doctor that info up...
then you will have all the answers you need.

Mad, mad, mad,
That's what I'd be, shouldn't have waited so long to call bro... I heard mixed reports about xxx-motorsports, I've never dealt with them and never will... Granted, your not losing your lifes savings on this bike but fair is fair, you paid for it, it arrived broke, they need to fix it, Period...
Start going up the chain, quit dealing with the E-mail guy as it seems he is a waste, let them know you are an avid member of this site and talk to whoever is in charge, don't be scared of them, this is business and this is how it works sometimes...Not sure how you paid for it but if you used a credit card or debit card, let them know you are going to file a claim to return/stop payment if things don't go YOUR way... We all gotta stick to this rule as this may be the down fall of the China bike industry... We need to weed out the the problem sellers and promote the honest...
Sorry for the rant...

Back in October from LintoPowersports and it came as a 2006. Sorry I can't give you any insight about xxx. They shouldn't be selling 2005's in 2007 without letting you know before the purchase. Any upgrades to make this more of what you want should be their cost. Especially the sprocket change. As far as I know the 2006's had 46 rear sprockets and 14 front, that's one thing you can mention to them that is not the same. You're also gonna want them to send you a chain for the 14/46 combo, unless you want to cut your chain that you have.
