I thought I'd put some of the repairing skills I've learned from my CB's to good use. :D
I've wanted a Ninja 250 for about 15 years now, finally pulled the plug and got a good deal on one that needs a little work. 8O
It's an '09 still under warrantee with 1,000 miles on it. Prior owner fell on it's right side leaving his driveway and broke the right side fairing and the front cowling. Tiny ding in the tank, scrape on the muffler, and a small scrape on the painted area under the seat.
Other than that it's perfect mechanically. 8) Fast little bugger, with outstanding handling and braking. Comfortable also. It will ba a nice compliment to my Gold Wing.
I pick it up tonight, and will post pics soon if anyone in interested. Right now it's not much to look at with the fairing off but it will be a stunner.
Oh, BTW $1500!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got one too. For $150. Cept mine is an 89 and looks like it has seen more than one spill. It does run though.

$1500?? 8O
For a '09?
Someone call a cop because you stole that bike!!! :D
Very nice! I am absolutely interested in the pics.
ninja250.org has a pretty good write-up on fairing repair in their FAQs, might be worth a look

Pics will be coming shortly. It rides perfectly, but needs a fairing. Front, sides, and a few other little bits. I'll be scouring the internet. Hopefully it will be more fun than frustrating. I'm looking to finish the bike to like new for less than $2500. We'll see. Right now it looks like a new green 250 Ninja with no fairing...

I sat on the one I picked up. Rode it about 10 feet. I like how feels.
This would make a nice commuter bike. Too bad this one is so far gone and has a branded title.
Great deal on the 09. I don't think the parts from mine will work. That and the fairing is cracked.

Looks like $1,000 8O in parts to make it good. Between internet dealers and eBay I should be OK.
So, a $4,000 bike for $2,500 plus some work (and I am born to work) I'm good to go. This may work out to be a good deal after all. :D

I'd say you did better then me on the 05, for sure. The newer style is really popular. You could easily get your money back and turn a profit.
Dealers around here are selling the 08's for nearly $4k....and they sell.
Well done, sir!

Our local dealer is selling the identical '09's for $4100+. None will even be available till November. Mine should have cost me, God willing, if everything goes according to plan, $2700-2800 when I'm done.
Even in its current ugly state I've put a few hundred miles on it. Mechanically it's perfect, and a blast to ride.
I'll look through youer threds today as soon as I get a chance!

Please do post lots of photos, Doc! This sounds like a very interesting project. I have thought about acquiring a Nina 250R for myself on more than one occasion! ;)

$1200 worth of parts should be coming in this week. I'll [hotograph the process. I HOPE it all goes smoothly. :?
In the meantime I've put a few hundred miles on it while it's ugly. 110 MPH is no problem, and I'm sure it will do 120 with the fairing on. Now it's a bit of an aerodynamic mess. I love riding the canyons flat out and just flicking it, leaning, and hanging off. This little bike rocks. :D
Cruising 80 MPH at 9,500 RPM takes some getting used to. the Gold Wing does the same speed at about 3,300! 8)

Its all together and brand spanking new again! Perfect and beautiful! I'll post pics when I can but it looks like any other new green Ninja! :D
My girlfriend rode it with me and my buddy and her sister (She on the Ninja, me on the Gold Wing, her sister on the back of my buddy's Ultra) up to the top of Chinook Pass on Highway 410 (Mt. Ranier National Park area) and back for a total of 275 miles without a hitch. Great fun! :D

I took it out last night after work to shred a local canyon and had a lot of fun. As it is said, it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. That's if you can call a 105 MPH 250 slow. :D
