Way too fugly for me, even at some kind of "real" value, $250?

Perhaps the price was a 'typo' ... and should be 225.

Here's another one:

We have a 2006 Hyosung motorcycle 250 cc for sale. Was mildly dropped but well repaired. Looks and runs great. Just a scuff on the muffler. Paid over $2000. second hand last summer for it but only test drove it and never driven since. Would like to get back what we paid for it. Great 1st bike or next step up from a scooter.

(so I buy a motorcycle, drive it, smash it, and *think* it is worth what I paid?)

And here is a real "dreamer"

Wanted: looking for somone giving a harley away

Thats cheap for a Hyosung.
They're normally priced about double what they're actually worth.
I bet you could get it for $1500, and thats not bad for that bike, as long as its not trashed.

Bad for a wrecked bike, But I would pay 1500 for A Hyosung in a heartbeat if it was in good shape.

Ok... So, this guy lives in my apartment building. I talked to him once, I don't think he knows anything about bikes. And I am starting to think he has no conscience. When I talked to him, he told me he likes to buy old bikes and make a profit on them. I assumed he put in work or money to fix em.

First and foremost, all of these bikes sit out in the rain all the time. The others don't really show it, but the cbr 125 is usually filthy.

So first up is his cbr 125, http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1260351699.html
He told me how much he bought it for but I don't recall... This one isn't too out of line, but it is at least a few hundred too high.

Then there is this vf400, which I think is a pretty cool old bike, but check out the price he is asking for it...
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1260365066.html

And then there is this one, this is the one where I was wondering about his conscience... http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1260383201.html

He bought this bike from my dad not long ago, when it was sold to him, the ad clearly stated that there was engine problems, and it was knocking, my dad thinks it may need bearings. He was told he should fix it before riding it, and he really didn't seem concerned. It never did get plates on it, though I heard he has had it out a couple of times at least, really winding it up, even though it has issues. Obviously he isn't concerned with keeping it, he bought it to sell at an inflated price. He bought it for $500 (Cdn) knowing it had mechanical issues. The bill of sale states "as is". Luckily he hasn't bothered us since he bought it. Anyways it popped back up on craigslist a while back, it's been on 3 times and the price has risen, I forget his original price, probably 850, now it is $950. His first ad didn't mention the engine knocking. The second ad said there was a problem with a spark plug, but after that it should be all good. This ad mentions a ticking... And the other thing that pops out of this ad is this "New Tires with Great tread". That is a lie, the tread depth on the tires is good, but they are the same tires that were on it when he bought it, and they have pretty hard rubber on them. The way he makes it out, he just put new tires and exhaust on it. I'm not far off from posting a reply to his ad on there so everyone can know, but if someone were to come look they hopefully would be smarter then falling for his tactics and lies. The worst part is he lives in my building, and knows where my bike parks, so I don't want to piss him off....

Hard for you to respond with inside knowledge without him knowing it was you.

People try to flip things for a profit all the time, but in some aspects it's up to the buyer to do their homework and know what they are buying.

If someone out there is willing to pay inflated prices, it's really their own decision. Craigslist should always be buyer beware.

I also noticed someone trying to sell a chinese quad calling it a Kawasaki. It looks like a 50cc unit and they had it up for 700 initially, USED! I noticed someone posted a rebute to it, obviously showed up at their door expecting a Kawa and finding something else.

My favorite is , No time to ride anymore, Means one of two things
The bike is not good enough for me to ride
Or the bike is beaten within an inch of it's life, Must sell before it breaks.

Jim

It does sometimes mean no time to ride :P

Anyways yeah, I understand people flipping them, but the lying about the condition and so on is what got me... I was considering posting something along the lines of "I looked at this bike a month or so ago, when it was listed for $500, with an engine knock, buyer beware". I guess it is up to the buyer to look it over though.

That X-Rage is ridiculous, you can buy it brand new for half that. I like this, "email serious offers"... I emailed a question. Not an offer though.

I also saw that quad and the reply to it. I think Vancouver craigslist has to be the worst.

I don't see those adds much. I only search for bikes under $200.
