Some of you who read all my posts (maybe 1 or 2 of you) may know my wife has the quads in Calgary doing some flat ground riding.

One of the quads dropped the mixture screw from the carb. It just fell out. I had never heard of this happening before and the screw was by no means backed off that far to begin with. I found this to be a very strange occurence.

Even stranger is that as the man of the house was removing the mixture screw from another unit as a sample to take to search in town for a replacement, it itself had wiggled it's way loose and was close to falling out.

Anyone heard of this before? Keep an eye on your mixture screws all, perhaps they need loctite too?

He has now put tape on them all to try to stop them from falling out again. Not sure if this is the best option but will see if it works.

Hi TurboT.....I bet if you put a small compression sping around the screw and then screwed it in it would stay in place......hope this helps.

That was my thought as well, but I also think that a dab of rtv on the threads is a good idea. The screw needs to be air tight (relatively), and it can't be if it wobbles around. Rtv would likely hold it in place.

RTV stands for Room Temperature Vulcanizing (vs. anaerobic, etc). It goes to partial cure in 15 minutes, if you're in a hurry to repair something. Still, 24 hours is better.

Acetone and a wire brush makes short work of removal.

Much as you don't like Crappy Tire, you can find it there. It's readily available at several places.
