Alright, Took a very close look at the bike yesterday....Few issues. The rear rim has a good chinger on it...Can be fixed but rather lace up a new one. The grips are shot...The throttle tube might need to be replaced or the cable lubed. Rear tire worn down....I am going to offer him 900 for it take it or leave it. It is worth that much in parts so we'll see. If I post pics he took it if not he can keep it

Those are minor issues to overcome, and 2000 is a new bike in my mind. You'd not likely get that bike for less than $2000 where I live.

Yah, But here I can get those bikes all day long for around 1500. I saw a newer one today on craigslist for 1100 in better condition. Everybody is switching to four strokes or need money I'm going backwards 8O ...I went to the bank and made the deposit but they won't allow cash out until the check clears..So they said funds will be available on the 19th. I went and told him and he said he would hold the bike.....I told him if You can sell it sell it...If it's still here on the 19th I'll take it. He asked for a deposit, I asked to see a clear notorized title in his name  ...Needless to say after a hew hmms and haws he could not produce. So I am a little leary right now. We'll see what happens. But with all the new regualtions a bike with no title here is almost worthless unless You have a private twenty acres to play on. SO no big bike for me at the moment

Most dirt bikes in GA were sold new without a title. It has not been needed.
I think they still sell without a title here.

I wish it couldbe that way here, The Cali's moved in and started to reform everything. We have to pay 30 bucks a year to sticker our bike for off road use...If we plan on going on main trails the bike must be equipped with everything to make it street legal. You can't get the OHV sticker as it's called without a title. Pretty soon we will be ran out of the forest all togethor. A lot of bikes values dropped the day this law passed...You can get non titled bikes for 500-600 bucks...But they do You no good without Your own land or track. And it takes weeks and weeks to get a bonded title and is over a hundred bucks. This particular bike is only worth a thousand tops...So paying more for a title or finding out it was stolen makes me on edge a little. We'll see he swears there is a clean title...If so I might just pay the thousand and call it good.
katoranger
08-12-2009, 05:49 PM
With those conditions I would pay for it like I am buying it for parts. If you don't have the title its almost worthless as a rider.
Fortunately the Calis haven't discovered Georgia yet.

It's only BC that has crazy regulations. BC stands for Bring Cash.
Alberta has mandatory off-road vehicle registration (which I'm in favour of), but they're much more relaxed on everything else.

A little regualtion is fine, And if they want us to pay for the right to be in the forest that we pay for already......OK I can do that if they make better trails and a better experience. But they are not, They closed 90% of the trails and made whats left mostly walking trails. I also found out today a headlight must be on all vehicles as well as tailght and horn and mirror..How am I supposed to drop my bike without causing hundreds in damage now? Sigh, The few screw it up for the many. But on a bright nots I saw the title to the bike and it's all good, I pick it up on the 19th :D

In BC here I think we're supposed to have tail and brake lights to ride on forestry roads, however back trails I don't think matter, if you can find them, and more than likely can't get to them without using the forestry road. Also need to buy insurance for those forestry roads as well. When I bought my YZ, I didn't know any of this, and have no papers, and no lights... I'm getting ready to shun regulation and just go enjoy myself. If I happen to run across a forestry ranger/officer then I'll just plead ingnorant and be nice...but I think the chances of that would be slim, since our backcountry is large and they can't be everywhere.

I asked him what it was like at stupid speeds, and he said that it was quite smooth. He also pointed out that they don't use a rim lock, likely because it would take a stupid amount of balance weight to compensate, and it would shake you to death at high speed.
It just seems unnatural to me to do that kind of speed on a dual sport.

Well, Got the bike today....Gave it a real close look and short ride.
The good,
Lots of power
Fmf Gnarly pipe
Fmf Shorty Silencer
Weisco Piston
Performance reeds
Renthal bars
Bar brace, Can't remember the brand
Sticky seat, Again cannot remember brand
Good brakes gears all seem fine
clean title.
Just what I have found so far.
The goodies alone are more than I paid for the entire bike :D
The bad,
Needs new rear tire, Needs new front tire, new grips, Clutch lever could use replacement, sticky throttle and cluch might need to be replaced in the next year.....Or it is not adjusted right. And the fuel C ock is on backwards :? :?: Not sure about that one.
All in all very nice, And now I know never kick it over in running shoes. My foot aches :( How stupid of me....I got spoiled wiht all my electric starts

I've just recently starting trying but I'm frightened a little. :) The wheel comes up and I freak out and hit the back brake. :)
When I first got my bike, I was discombobulated and gave it too much gas, launched the front wheel, I panicked and came off, it slammed me back down and somehow managed to twist the throttle and it pulled me back up again. Yah I tried on my DR, UMMMMMM NOPE  It takes talent on that bike and I do not have that. I might start trying....I know a few MX riders now and they can maybe teach me the tricks. But I bet it's more of a practice and feel thing. You just have to fall to get it right....But on my DR each fall would be hundreds in damage. On this it's meant to fall so I can try some.

Maybe you can show us some video of you falling with style.
Regarding tires, I haven't paid for one in a long time. I'm too Scottish. The local bike shop changes a lot of tires for racers, and they throw the old ones out back. It's really easy to find a replacement that has plenty of tread; they usually toss them because some of the edge knobbies are chipped, but I don't care.
AZ200cc

When I bought the bike, the guy who sold it to me jumped on it, revved it some and popped the front wheel up. It was rolling slowly and he just held it there, engine purring and just looking cool. I think back and bet that was the moment I decided that was the one I wanted...

Well first ride outof the way, Not bad at all....Little hard to get used to the snap but I can handle it. Did some jumps a few basic hill climbs and etc. She was scary at times if You are not careful and would whip the wheel right out from under you with wrong throttle control. Rear tire looks like Lex Luthors head so that made it even more of a handeling issue. Front tire is not much better so it would wash out on me if I was not prepared. Bikes runs nice....Neutral is a bitch to find though.
Sorry no wheelies yet.....I doubt it could with the tires it has  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

There was one other guy with his Honda 250 2 Stroke who gave me some pointers. Later on he landed in a pile of ricks climbing a hill. I was right behind him and could not stop or I would have been toast also. Banged him and the bike up a little. When you're riding on a hot day, and the YZ stalls on a step hill, and you're struggling to hold it up, let alone kick start it, a WR is pretty cool. Besides, your Dr. D pipe is a bolt-on for the WR.

More pics, I got a day off so I messed with the bike a little. Put new grips on and my triangle stand showed up yesterday. It is small enough I can take it with me on trails....I now have a "kickstand" I peeled the ugly decals off the side.....And after a half an hour gettnig the rubber cement  off. "yes they used rubber cement :!: I got it looking a little better.
Nice and clean :D

I kind of like the Fox bar bad. What style / colour are you thinking?
What size is your rear tire?

I am going basic, Black and yellow suits this fellow.... I have always been a fan if KISS. Too many colors and stickers = silly looking IMO. Two basic colors a few well placed stickers and ta da it's a rider, Maybe that pad will grow on me....But it is fricken BRIGHT yellow in person  Plus being a local bike I always change it up so nobody recognizes it and tells me bad things about it's past 8O
