My son's 250T got a hole in the carb float. We took it apart and the guys at V-Bike gave us a new one. However, when reassembling it, we realized that the carb (Keihin PZ27) does not match up to the intake manifold. In face, the o-ring on the carb completely misses the flange on the manifold, allowing air and dirt to bypass the carb and filter. Have a look-see:

We're going to seal it up with some permatex, but know I know why it was running so lean.....

What do you attribute that to? A poor intake, or just mismatched parts?

Maybe you could find a Honda intake that would fit properly, rather than Permatex.

Looks like it was meant to have a 30-32mm carb on there.

I really hate flange mount carbs, much preferring spigot mounts.

It's a mismatch carb-manifold. It does look like the manifold is made for a 30mm or larger carb.

I'll eventually go with a 30mm carb. Probably sooner than later, so for the time being, permatex will work. It just irks me that such an obvious issue slid by someone. Guess that's Chinese design for you. It's just unfortunate.

Maybe the first carb was just a dud, but we have the new one on and sealed this time and it's running great. I can run it full throttle and it just keeps pulling - None of the stuff it was doing before. In fact, I can pull the front wheels off the ground now in first by hammering the throttle from a slow roll.
