Have you dug up a photo of one? That would help us guide you.

The occasional punctuation mark would be helpful also.

Could that be the favoured GY6 motor?

It certainly is. The GY6 has been a great engine for us, although I don't know if it would be faster than a manual trans equivalent or not. We didn't buy ours for speed.

We went through several of the typical growing pains of any Chinese product, and we ended up replacing the chain with a quality unit, fabricating a chain slider to reduce noise, rebuilding the rear axle due to improper original assembly procedures (only applicable on a rear axle that has reverse built in), fabricating a better intake tube with a Uni pod filter and rejetting the carb and adding a performance exhaust.

It's been a good machine since then.

I think the manual trans would just give you a different 'feel' or rider experience. Much jerkier and probably better for hills as you can control your gearing, but overall 'faster' .. I doubt it.

I recommend that you take the time to research GY6 on Google. You'll find tons of good info, including mods. This forum has lots of good stuff in the ATV section as well.

As far as body parts, etc, I'd be checking with the vendor you buy the atv from.

Typically a GY6 150cc engine comes with a 24mm spigot mount vacuum carb.

To go bigger you will have to change the intake manifold.

The inlet port on the head is 27mm in diameter. Anything bigger than 27mm (without porting the head) is just for bragging rights (and probably won't run "right" as the carb will be lacking the air velocity it likes at wot).

Big bore kits are out, at least out without spending a lot of cash, the case needs opened up to accept a bigger barrel.

4 valve heads and camshaft are a mod you can do at home, but again, costly.

Probably stick with a performance exhaust, and jetting changes for now, get it broken in, then decide which direction you wish to head in.
