TurboT and I had the day off yesterday, so we hit the trails. While it was a little cold for the fingers and toes, the sky was sunny and clear. No major drama, only some chain trouble for TurboT and the discovery of a washed-out road. I hope that the road will be rebuilt this year, or it will prevent us from using the camp area.

Me climbing up a muddy slope:

TurboT's chain popping off on the same slope:

Me crossing a small creek:

TurboT's turn. Note the sound of his Beast with the 125 Pit Bike muffler:

We figured that we couldn't get enough speed to clear this washed-out road:

Our snowy Beasts:

For comparison, the same spot in October 2009:

It was a good day. I hope that we can go again soon.

It was a blast! Power slides and doughnuts in the snow were great.

I've proved I'm getting old though, I'm stupid sore today!

Thank you for another nice ride report; I especially enjoyed watching the videos! :D Besides my Zong, I also own an Arctic Cat 250 2X4 Utility ATV; I would love to go riding with you guys. :)

Perhaps we can get together with FastDoc, and have a Pacific Northwest Rendezvous some time in the future. :)

Spud :)

Spud riding with you would be a hoot. You're always welcome to come up and join us! :)

W&G and I were talking about how it'd be cool to have some dual sports and do a bit of a back country tour of our province in the spring/summer. We'd both like to find some used Zong's like yours to ride it with.. I had a look at our local craiglist and google, and there doesn't seem to be that many around! We'll keep looking!

Beautiful place to ride, friends and freedom. That's all you need for a great day. Thanks for sharing. I've not gotten into the ATV thing but maybe someday...

When I had my GY5, I went on the DSBC "DeadZone" ride they had up in Spences Bridge... I rode my gy5 there up the highways... What I wanted to do was head out on the logging roads and so on from Harrison and get there, I heard it can be done, but I didn't have anyone to go with and knew I would be lost and eaten by bears if I attempted it :P

Looks like a major hoot! Don't you love it when the chain falls off somewhere wet or muddy though? Thank you kindly for sharing :).

P.S. Pit bike muffler sounds sweet! Give her heck Turbo! :)
P.P.S. Just noticed that neither of your Beasties have front bumpers on em... Were they in the way or something?

We have more photos to share from our ride yesterday, W&G has them and I'm sure he'll share when he has some time... but the pit bike muffler BLEW off on me yesterday. So yes, I was giving her heck! :) It seems the rivets holding it together weren't of the best quality. We're trying to decide whether to repair it or just put the Monster Pipe I have here on it. It sounded horny without any muffler though, I will say that!

As for the front bumpers, we removed them so we could get them both into the back of my pickup. With the front grills removed, they JUST fit turned sideway in the truck box.

Since this is yet another ride at Nickelmine in January 2010, the following pics / vids don't seem worthy of a new thread:

TurboT lost his new Pit Bike muffler. He theorizes that there is too much back-pressure for the rivet quality, and I suspect that he's right. I'll do the math on the perforated plates and drill accordingly when I repair it. Sorry for the crummy pic, but it's funny.

TurboT has been working on trials-type riding, although it's customary to do such rides at low speed.

My son had a go at the river on our 150 Monster:

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/Weldangrind/th_SamRiver.jpg (http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t109/Weldangrind/?action=view&current=SamRiver.flv)

Finally, my son tried a decent hillclimb on the Monster. We've installed a Monster performance exhaust, a Uni pod filter, new jets and a Gio performance coil. I'm impressed with the climbing ability of the little GY6. His handgrip rotated in front of the throttle near the top, so it sounds like he was running out of power. Gotta remember to glue those grips. 8O BTW, he's six feet @ 170lbs (so far).

It was a great day. :D

Gee that looks and sounds fun. :)

I didn't think I went that fast, or that far up. What you don't see on the video is how long it took me to turn around to come back down! Or the first time I went slow and got stuck in the middle of the creek.

Thanks for posting! :)

Great pics and movies guys, thanks for sharing! Your lucky that you live close enough to each other to go riding... Heck, I think I'm the only guy in town with chinese ATV's! Though it is a teensy town. Oh! Beasty sounds wicked with the blown out exhaust!

I am surprised that several Zong owners, myself included, have lost rear reflectors located behind our FMF Turbine Core 2 silencers. However, TurboT has outdone the Zongites! Thanks for the great photo and videos, WG! :)

Spud :)
