Sit down, relax, open your imagination and enjoy this photo essay! It makes me want to ride in China, but maybe on a GS Beemer or KLR...

Indeed, that is a very nice thread, Doc. :) If you haven't read it already, you might also enjoy reading the following ride report. However, be forewarned; this thread is quite long, and addictive. ;)

Wow. That looks great too! I'm still not done with the first one! I'd like to see it in book form, nicer way to read a long article than on the computer!

Yes, I agree; I also prefer to read longer articles in printed form. ;) In case you didn't notice, Doc, the ride report I cited concerns a man and his wife who rode their Zongshen 200GY-2 motorcycles all over China, and Mongolia. :) As a former Zong owner, I think you will particularly enjoy reading Over the Great Wall, Under the Iron Curtain. :)

Owl and his wife purchase their Zongs on the first page of this thread. After the bikes are assembled out of the shipping crate, the couple immediately rides off on their adventure. This thread documents the Zong's rugged reliabilty. This thread also demonstrates the fine performance of the Zongshen 15-inch, and 18-inch, dual sport tires; it's just too bad you can't purchase these tires in the United States.

The Zong would be a good choice. The Shineray's used in the articl I cited held up poorly, but one of the failures (catastrophic) was likely not the bikes fault, but being grossly overfilled with oil.

If I did that trip I'd have like to have used a GS Beemer or a KLR. Out of the CB's I'd have chosen a Zong (on DS tires) or a Q. I would not have attempted a Lifanoid.
