My wife and I road today, it was a great day to ride we where out for about two hours when we met up with some other riders a man and his son, he had a suzuki 2fiddy it was bad! his 6 year old son was having problems with his chain popping off of his little CHINA atv, so I told him we would run back to the truck and grab some tools. we had a good ways to go, about half way back I looked back and notice stacie (my wife) looking down at her bike so I knew something was wrong, turns out she got a roofing nail stuck in her rear tire so we had to ride very slowly the rest of the way back, anyway I took the tools back to the guy we fixed it and I headed back to the truck loaded up and that ended our day. heres a short vid of me getting it muddy>

I used to get nicks like that on my shins -- plastic knee shin gaurds and full dirt boots are relatively cheap and save many of bruises.

If ya wanna upgrade them boots for $70 http://www.chaparral-racing.com has Ocelot SX3 Boots available... they also sell full gear package deals with boots, gloves, pants, and jersey for $130.

Not everyone is comfortable riding in the heat with gear on -- I just get used to it though... and combined with my body armor and neck support I cannot remember the last time I went down and got a cut or bruise. Might be worth the investment, especially while learning to ride.
