Occasionally I see two Can-Am, Spyder Roadsters riding around town; one is yellow, the other is red. Last June I saw the red Can-Am parked outside my local Costco. I had my camera handy, so I took a few photographs; I hope you enjoy them. :)

After taking the photographs, I had a chance to talk to the owner; he likes his bike a lot! Below is a link to the Spyder Roadster website. :)

The first time I saw one of these was a couple of years ago. My head almost spun all the way around. They sure are catchy looking. I wonder though if it is at all weird to drive?

Got them running around all over the place here....though I have yet to seek out a dealer close by. They have to be coming from somewhere!

A buddy of mine in Reno had an opportunity to take a nice long test ride on one of these. He said it would be great for commuting but not for the distances. He said the factory rep told him some of the selling advantages of them here is you don't need a seperate motorcycle license to ride one so a lot of 'non-riders' seem very interested.....especially those who have had a lifelong fear of motorcycles due to the 'fall over factor'.

That's not the case in BC; two or three wheels qualifies as a motorcycle, and therefore needs a separate license and a helmet.

There's a dealer in Kelowna that has carried them for a few years, and they've organized rides so that they have several buzzing around town at the same time. They look like they corner much better than a conventional trike.

Cheaper than a Gold Wing or a Harly or a Victory. Might be worth in in that context.

I think they are very interesting. I'd like to ride one.

It would be nice to have a three wheeler other than a trike to ride if/when I'm too old to ride the Gold Wing someday. I understand the Can Am is pretty high performance. I've heard it's more like riding a snowmobile than a motorcycle.

You need a motorcycle endorsement on your driver's license to ride a trike in Idaho. The Can-Am Spyder is too expensive for me; my $950 Zong is much more economical! However, I would love to test ride a Spyder Roadster; I bet they are a lot of fun. :)

They had them at our annual Ride for Hunger in town a year or two back, a dealer had brought them and they got lots of attention! (Even more than the bikini bike wash!) What I found utterly fascinating though was a machine someone had brought to the rally... I think it was called a T-Rex? He was burning donuts in a parking lot with it and skidding around corners. Looked like a real handful to drive and had two wheels in the front as well. Sounded like a hyper snowmobile motor powering it. That said though, I would love to take one of the Can Am's for a spin, they look a little more sane than the T-Rex :D

Lol, found some of the pics, I think it was from 2 years ago... First the Can-Am

Now, the insane T-Rex...

Might have been a souped up bike engine even? I never got a good chance to look at the driveline... Sounded like a snowmobile though.

Cant wait for the rally this year... Not sure whether to take the Konker or the KLR (If I ever get it...) :)

three wheels make a motorcycle here in va, but i have to ask the gold wing kits that add what i call training wheels and use the original wheel make a car? sorry guys i cant go with the trikes i dont approve if you dont have the balance, skill or strength to go on 2 wheels you shouldnt be riding for the safety of yourself and others.

I read an article about the T-Rex years ago. IIRC it has a GSXR-1100 engine.

Ahh, that makes sense because he seemed to be dumping the clutch on corners and spinning around on them. Pretty hairy unit, the big fellow on the right with Dunlop disease was driving it... To say it was a tight fit was an understatement!

Canadian Club or Wisers? Gotta love rye-based whiskey (vs. sour mash). It gives me wicked heartburn though.

That's why I stick to Canadian beer. :D

Martin (my cat from the Humane Society I adopted) stalked, caught and ate his first butterfly yesterday. Based on his facial expression butterflies taste terrible. 8O

OK; I will take it a step farther. Perhaps you should allow Martin to sample both Molson, and Budweiser beers, then compare his facial expressions! :D

Interestingly enough he does like beer. I'm trying to have him cut back as he's only 16 months old and not of legal drinking age.
