What about the Asiawing bikes, I wonder if any are in the US?

This bike has a 500cc engine with 40hp and is based on technology once used by this Italian motorcycle manufacturer. http://www.mvagustausa.com/web-mvagusta/index2.html


Maybe remove the plastic zig zag and give it a round headlight? It is not the looks that keep this bike out of the market it has been EPA/DOT for sometime, it’s the price it would cost and the lack of support in the states.

Has anyone every asked what’s a unit cost to import these? Asiawing is small, they are a small company and with that what, more maneuverable and agile? But they also have limited resources.

The technology they use is not patented its older technology and reused, that ok though if they could be produced in volume the price could be kept down, but probably not under $4,000.00?

If that bike was under or around $4,000.00 and offered comprehensive support and demonstrated reliability it could take some of the market.

They say design….but what that translates into is a reverse engineered design.
Seriously they are all copies of something somebody already made, every time I research one I find the original DNA.

What Ducati engine is it, that Cagiva used?

Ducati…did they ever offer a single cylinder engine? Their 400 and 600 were L-Twin.

The Jialing is built on a Cagiva Gran Canyon 600cc
The Asiawing its built on a Cagiva River 500cc, the black bike above is advertised on B2B site as an Asiawing Tourister. But it looks to be a twin?

Ducati had a 500 twin but that's circa 1970's?

I know I went off the deep end on the Jialing, but looking at this version I would have to say it looks like a good “adventure” bike. If you are traveling that set up would be ideal.

The colors on this Gran Canyon I actually like and the colored keyed storage looks great.

I would like to see all the engine, frame and rims all blacked out, that's what changes I would have made, I think Jialing took its version in the wrong direction IMO.

I am not sure of the exact engine. I just know that at some of the cagiva bikes used ducati engines. I believe they were twins.

The 900cc engines?

The engines are Cagiva engines not Ducati they are originated from the W16 engine. The W16 are the 500 and 600cc engines and developed off the W12 350cc engine.

Not that wiki is a good source of information but here is the article they have on Cagiva and it claim as of 2009 that Cagiva is owned by Harley Davidson.

The cagiva elefant engine was derived from the ducati desmo. The elefant is the only cagiva I have seen in person. I can't remember what displacement, but I believe it was a 750. Something like an 86 model. The engine was clearly ducati. Very nice bike. This was a twin. I am not sure if the singles were of ducati origin.
