My Long Term Buggy Project

Well i know it isn't "made in china" but i finally downloaded the plans i've been drooling over for the past 1-1/2 years, hopefully i can find the time to see this project thru to the end, i might get a buddy involved so we can split the work as there is alot of parts to fab up for this build.
The plans come from www.badlandbuggy.com and the one i'll be building is the ST4, i'm thinking a honda 600cc bike motor will be the powerplant unless i can find a 1000cc. This buggy looks sweet, wish me luck......

That looks really cool. 8) The suspension looks like it would have tremendous travel and articulation.

I'd be inclined to doubt that you'd be happy with 600cc in a two-seater. Have you thought about alternate powerplants, like, say, a turbo Firefly engine on nitrous? :lol:

The plans call for Fox 2.0 air shocks and allows for 14" front and rear travel, the mounting plates are designed for the 600cc honda to fit right in, but since that will be one of my last steps then i'll have to see what options are open to me, cheap talks.

Thats a wicked buggy there! I am currently re-working the rear suspention on a VW based sand rail. Converting from a swing axel to an IRS setup. I havent had much time to work on it so it has taken much longer than expected.

Take your time and build it right. A buddy to help with the work and fab work will be a big boost. Maybe you could build 2 of them at the same time?

I probably won't need it for a year or two, lol, i'm going to start making all the plates first that i can with the equipment that i have, the rest will be laser cut, then i'll get the tubing and build up the chassis, the engine, wheels and body will be last.
I'm very impressed with the plans quality, there is a 100 page .pdf build guide showing everything and also includes part #'s and suppliers of where to get the parts needed, they also send a complete raw steel list, bolt list and parts list, well worth the $75, there no way even with my CAD skills that i could draw something like that up in 4 hours.

That looks like a very fun project. :) I agree, the detailed plans are a steal for $75. ;) I also like the idea of getting a buddy/buddies, and building two, or more, at the same time. :)

It is look like very interesting project. I think that You will have make for the special city slums area. I like the suspension which is list backside of the car. Nice dude. I wish that You will finish your project as soon as far.
