I received my demo and all I can say is 'WOW". The fit and finish is unbelievable, the PDI is hardly anything at all and it fired up within a few cranks of the electric start!

It's quiet, nice looking and best of all affordable!!!

Those who are looking at getting a scooter...consider these!

check out the aftermarket style exhaust - it also comes stocked with a carbon fibre instrument cluster. There are tons of aftermarket parts available for this model @ Martin Racing Performance!

That exhaust looks Leo Vince-inspired.

I thought that two-stroke bikes were no longer being imported into Canada.

As long as they meet EPA requirements they are good!

HOW WOULD YOU TELL????????

From:

http://www.baotiancanada.com/lotus.htm

Engine:

Type: Single Cylinder - 4 Stroke

Displacement: 49mm

Bore / Stroke: 40mm / 39.2mm

Compression Ratio: 7.5 ± 0.1 : 1

Max power (kw/rpm): 3.3kw /6500 min-1

Max torque (N.m/rpm): 5.0N.m at 6000 min-1

Max Speed: 60km

Ignition: CDI

Carburetor: PZ19

Starting Method: Electric & Kick

Engine Oil: 2 Stroke Engine Oil - 40:1

Scratching head and wondering why a 4 cycle engine uses 2 cycle engine oil?
And are we to "believe" that the maximum power happens at 6500rpm?

Bad specs are worse than no specs.

I don't think I've ever mixed oil for a four stroke, and especially not at 40:1.

I think they got their specs mixed up because they sell another 49cc scooter that is a 4 stroke. Surprisingly, it is cheaper than the 2 stroke. Funny how companies go to all the trouble to make their websites look professional and such, and then fail at simple proofreading.

fail at simple proofreading

When they go to the trouble to advertise they should get the info right. These guys are trying to run at the big guns and somehow fail miserably EVERY time.

There is not a scooter engine built that maxes out @6500rpm, 2 cycle, or 4 cycle.

There is not a scooter engine built that maxes out @6500rpm, 2 cycle, or 4 cycle.

Your right!! but in this situation when the Max speed is advertised for 60km/h the max power that is generated would be 3.3 kw/6500 rpm.

My Lotus redlines at 8000rpm and can cruise to 70km/h.

The adjustments have been made to the website and your right..someone should have proof read the site but obviously it was overlooked and we thank you for your keen eye.

As far as the Lotus(2 Stroke) being more expensive than the Quadro(4 Stroke) is that the Lotus is a bigger bike and more comfortable to drive and more expensive to ship due to its size. The Lotus is 7" longer which in turn makes a more comfortable ride.

As for the comment of us "Going after the big guys"...your right ...we are, because the buying public is getting hooped on the pricing of a 50cc scooter. You look at companies like SYM,PGO,Vespa,Kymco,SAGA ect that are charging $2200-$3500 for a 50cc scooter and they all have pretty much the same QT50 engine as there powerplant. During this economic slow down, people want an economical scooter backed by a good warranty and ample parts support and I feel that Baotian Canada provides that.

I appreciate the feedback because that makes us a better company because we have you,the "Chinarider Family" that has a different set of eyes that can pick up on the little things that we don't notice and for that we thank you.

Reveen...we both live in the same neck of the woods and I would be more than happy to bring over the Lotus for you to look at and try for yourself...

Much Appreciated,

Brad:

I "get" it that Chinese scooters are, well, a bit pricey in Canada. How many times can we see US web sites selling Chinese 50cc scooters for $799 (or less) while the exact same thing here in Canada is $2500-3500. Yes, there are a few more hoops to be jumped through to sell a road machine (of any type) here, and there is a "poll tax" (per unit importation fee), so the Boation pricing is a bit more "real" than the others.

Maybe if I was in the market for a new scooter I would give Boation a look.

here in the states a lot of people say it is over, cuz the stock market is doing this or that..

my boss plays the market and makes a killing at it. talking easy 100k a year, ive seen him in moods where i dont want to even talk to him becuase he lost 40 grand in 5 minutes..

what he has told me about is that people ramp the stock market up, to make it look like everything is all good. when in reality it is not, case in point. he plays the market for when its down, thats when he makes his money not when the market is up

Ahhhhh you nay sayers.

People still have to eat, and they need places to live.

Here is me, seriously considering quitting my part time job, as I don't need the money vs the aggravation caused by working.

What about CUB’s and auto clutches, Honda sold so many super cubs and now SYM is selling them, the Chinese copy of a Super Cub and they should make it bullet proof and inexpensive.

SYM is selling those for $2,399.00 in the US and certainly somebody could find a real good copy of those that they could sell for less then that.

People are so cynical but what about these DYK clones of the super cubs?

LOL look at this post on Motorcycles.com

They say that 50% of all motorcycles manufactured in the world are Chinese. However 80% of those are sold in china. A very large percentage of those are these type of motorcycles. As far as transportation goes one of these are considered best by the majority of riders.

http://www.smallbagbigworld.com/images/vietnam/honda_wave.jpg

Out of that largest production of motorcycles in the world, collectively all that are made in china. Honda sells or has 30% of that market; Chinese domestic market. The above motorcycle is a Honda Wave that is manufactured in china by Sundiro Honda.

The Chinese are not taking over, they are actually loosing ground in their own market to the market leader. Many of the Chinese manufacturers are not turning profits, they are struggling with breaking even on units they sell.

Simple economic are at work with too many manufacturers and to high of production numbers, flooded markets. Honda leads on quality and reputation in china. The products cost more, but are considered superior by the Chinese consumer.

This is likely the top selling motorcycle possibly in the world?
