Hey Guys,
Jim found replacement plastics for the GY on E-bay through T-motorsports, they are also starting to sell other parts as well, just look through their E-bay store, hope this helps someone.. Thanks for the info Jim.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=005&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=150109775417&rd=1&rd=1

No problem, I was considering posting it here, but was gonna wait and see how everything arrived... Anyways, yeah, replacement plastics (aswell as other parts), they have red, yellow, blue, and GREEN (the ones Ive been looking for). Just found them last night.

One thing to note is they don't accept paypal.

THATS COOL. KEEP US POSTED. My biggest concern with buying and selling these (chineses)atv's and bikes, is the availabillty of parts (oem and after market). so I am happy to see that some one has seen the void in the market and might fill it. It only seems logical to me that if your buying somthing that your going to ride to it's limits. then you should be able to fix it if you go beyond its limits. dose this make sense?

Yeah that makes sense. For most things I will go back to my dealer for parts, but I wanted original green (not repainted) plastics, and coastocoast I believe only gets red and blue.

Yep Yep Yep, sure has parts now, we'll see how long the parts last from his damaged bikes that come off of the containers!!!
Ask Tom from RPM how they damage bikes & quads when they remove them from the containers at a warehouse!! He has seen it first hand.

Any more details on that? Are you refering to how THEY specificaly unload their containers, or hinting the parts may be damaged or...?

edit... You don't have any green plastics do you? (though either way it's too late, I already ordered them.... but I was looking and would've been glad to order from you had I seen any green pieces available)

Bruce, That's exactly what I was thinking...

Wow, I guess they have parts...what they can salvage??? Was someone having a bad day on the forklift?

Pauli

It's not that they have good or bad days on the forklifts, but that happens too. They cram the containers so full that bikes & quads that they could fall out when the door of the container is opened. Every importer deals with this. I looked at some quads last year that where cheaper than the Redcat quads I sell to have a less expensive brand at my shop. These things are cheap & I mean cheaper made. Anyway since this guy was a distributor I was looking. I counted about 10 damaged quads and from the count of total quads in the warehouse he received in 3 containers.

They may or may not be damaged...hopefully not.
American Lifan did not import a green GY-5. I have been trying to talk them into green & yellow but it's not working yet, maybe after all of the others are gone but not right now.

Makes sense. My brother picks up used containers in Seattle & brings them to Montana to sell for storage. He picks out the best ones, but some look like they took a fast drop. When you think about all the handling these bikes get, it's actually pretty amazing they get to us in one piece.

Bruce, I have seen some yellow ones up here in canada and really didn't like them as much as the blue and red, though this is probably just my personal preference, the blue and red do seem alot nicer. And I am hoping green will look nice too.

Thanks for the info. :)

I have seen some yellow ones up here in canadaThe first china bike I ever saw or rode was my buddies yellow GY-5. When I was shopping around I really wanted a green one but had to settle on either red or blue.

The green and yellow ones used to be sold by T-Motorsports and were only available as grey-market bikes.

If you want to see what they will look like GREEN take a pic of a red bike to windows paint and invert the colors vwala it's green. I would of posted a pic if I knew how :( but it looks green when you do it.

No one seemed to ask the most important question...Do the plastics come with the "Cool Boy" stickers?; second most important--do they also carry the "auspicious" handle-bar pads?

Jim
04-10-2007, 10:28 PM
No cool-boy, because it is only the colored plastic, not the white part. It has the headlight shroud thing, the tank covers, the front fender, and 2 fork gaurds (which I dont have).

Though I just found out they only have one set of green plastic, I had ordered two, so hopefully I get my one atleast, will see how things go.

*MY* bike does have cool boy stickers, but there is other stickers stuck over them that resemble the stickers from the side.

You know, after reading what I said about grey market Lifans; all of TMS's Lifan bikes are grey market, not just the green and yellow ones...

Yep, but then again, they are still made by lifan, just not imported by american lifan... correct? So for the most part they would be the same, with maybe some minor differences in specs that the importer specified?

The grey markets started giving Am. Lifan some sweat :( . However, they did get some sense of "revenge" with all the grey market Lifan bikes that people cannot register.

I was tempted by T-Motorsports "fruit" several months ago. This was when they carried 4 colors of GY-5's. According to the Asian lady who works (worked) there, they would have allowed me to pay them, send me the MCO/bill of sale-allowing me to get a title/plate/registration in AZ, take a Greyhound bus to them, and ride it the 250 miles back. I know, I know, there would have been all kinds of logistics issues, and the bike would not have been run-in, but it sounded kind of adventurous at the time!

I have had NO problems with my grey-market, T-motorsports, bought off of E-bay GY-5 other then having to send my MCO back to them to have it filled out, which I could have done myself... I guess I must be one of the lucky ones as this is not the case for all...
Best $1205 bucks I ever spent...

I also had no issues getting my bike registered as an ORV here in CA, but I had T-Motorsports do it for me. Best 100$ extra I ever spent. CA is a pain in 'da booty.

ambassador, I used to live in Northridge until '02. (from 1979). Then I moved to the Navajo Reservation in northern Arizona.

Well so far I am glad I never looked into buying anything substantial from t-motorsports... They sent it to the wrong adress (more specifically they left out the unit number that I had even put in thier shipping adress form) and it obviously did not make it, so it got sent back to them I guess, but in between when I ordered and now, I got an email saying where they shipped it too, I immediatly emailed them and told them they sent it to the wrong adress but they never replied, until about a week later I got an email asking for positive ebay feedback... I replied and told them I am holding off on feedback until I get the item, and again told them they sent it to the wrong adress... Still no reply... But I guess they phoned here today and said they got the item back... Well duh, I already told you a few times the adress was wrong... Hopefully they sort it out, but just a heads up... it is hard to get a response from them via email, which wouldn't matter if they send it to your proper adress..

Culcune,
What brought you out to the Navajo Reservation (Besides not living in CA anymore and cool places to ride) Northridge seemed nice when I was there?

Ok, the green plastic got here... though now I sort of am attached to my red, and my dad likes his blue, so we are going to keep it until one of us brakes one our our colored pieces...

anyways, heres the picture

Looks good Jim,
Surprised your not going to put them on, great to have spare parts though...Glad to hear T-Motorsports came through for you, Any damage to them during shipping???

Jim
04-30-2007, 09:51 PM
No damage from shipping... the headlight piece, the part where the sticker is, is scuffed up a little, no big deal really, some waxy soap might clean it up.

I don't want to put it on my bike, because I've ordered some saddle and tail bags that have red and black on them, which goes better with my red, plus we just set my headlight.

Another thing is we would have to go back to ICBC and have them change our registration, because it lists the bikes color, (red or blue)

Other then that, we both like the green so rather then argue over who gets it we can just wait till we brake something ;)

That's funny, my Reg. says Blue but my bike is now primarily Black and was when I got it reg... T-Motorsports came through, except for the scratches, sounds about right, hope you don't break anything...

Jim
04-30-2007, 11:00 PM
I thought I was spelling break wrong

Well, it could be changed to "multi" then it wouldn't matter what I do with the color, not sure if you can do that there, but the truck I drive for work is listed as multi since it has 3 colors... The bike has many... Red, Black, White, Silve, Yellow, Gold, etc etc. But I would still have to change it atleast the one time
