khaos rear wheel

hi,got a tank khaos 250,been looking at lifan lf200iii pictures,chassis/rear suspension looks the same.
want to change my rear wheel with the one lifan uses,is a 17in versus my 15in.
has any one done this mod?
also engine in khaos is cbt 250(rebel clone)will honda sprocket fit this engine?

I looked up the Tank Khaos, and it's a nice looking sport bike. I don't know of anyone that has performed the mod you're talking about, but do you think the larger rim will fit? Considering that the 17" wheel will reduce clearance to the swingarm by 1", can you tell if the clearance exists?

What is the reason for changing the rear wheel size? Will it give you a larger tire selection?

Don't count on the rear sprocket being the same as a Rebel. The best thing you can do is measure the rear sprocket and hit the www.jtsprockets.com site. Use the online catalogue section and manually search for a sprocket with the same bolt pattern and dimensions. You'll need to be armed with bolt count, bolt hole diameter, center hole diameter and bolt circle. Let us know if any of that requires explanation.

hi,the khaos will reach 84mph at redline ,wanted a higher top speed,with the 17in wheel might get 3-5mph to top speed.
was planning to buy complete wheel with sprocket,hub...
clearance in back wont be a problem,plenty of space.i weight 230lbs and bike never bottoms on bumps.
the other reason was more tire choices aval,now i can only find front tires in that size.or tires that are to wide,i got a 140 in back,needed to switch spacers to avoid rubbing tire with chain.

LOL why do you care about going 90mph? Are you unhappy with life or you just have a goal of points on your license? I would think a 15” tire is pretty common, I also think you going to alter the profile of the bike if you raise the profile of the rear tire, like a jacked up hot rod.

I’d measure the profile front and back of both tires, then you can calculate the rake of the bike. If you change that rake you will alter the bike and have results from that, if it clears the frame and suspension. If it increases the rake as in higher in the back and with more of a rake to the front, then it could flip easy the nose down and the rear wheel raising up sending the rider over the handle bars and a hard brake at 90mph could make the prefect storm and the worst results.

Its never ok to make the rear tire larger then the front, that bike has a 16” front tire and if you increased the rear rim to 16” then you would need a lower profile tire for the front. You want to keep close to the stock rake.

Change the sprocket if possible, just decrease the number of teeth by two or three? You may loose some off the line acceleration with that. Then it is a matter of a performance exhaust and the different jets on the carburetor, that would increase the HP and TQ and the sprocket would shift that power to the higher end.

But the engine do you think it can take that? Doing that will shorten its life for sure.

17" rear tire with a 16" front is a very bad idea.

I wonder if those tires have tubes? That would make them hard to find wouldn’t it? Do all Chinese bikes use tube tires even the street bikes?

Oengus, he's only talking about going from a 15" to a 17", and that translates to only a 1" increase in overall height. There won't be much of a difference in rake and trail at such a small increase. The only real net effect will be a quicker steering response in town.

that and a increase of 4 to 5 mph at redline also means lower rpms at the speed limit..

front sprocket needs to be replaced also,and yes wheels are tube type even when tires are not,so i need to use tubes.
replaced front with a bt-45,no problems using them with tubes.
bike had a little over 7k miles now and front sprocket is skipping,dont want to use original part,need to remove it and send it to local powersports dealer to find a match that will last longer.maybe there is a larger size,so i wont do bigger wheel in back.

I had a look at www.jtsprockets.com and couldn't find a reference to a CBT 250, but I did find a couple of 250 Rebel options. Does your front sprocket look like this?

I found it at http://www.jtsprockets.com/52.0.html?&L=0&sel_uid=4486&p= and it's from a 1985 to 2009 250 Rebel. What size front sprocket do you have now? The stock size on a rebel is a 14 tooth, which is part number JTF270.14. To order a larger sprocket, just substitute the last two digits for a 15. It doesn't appear that they are available any larger than 15 from JT, but perhaps Sunstar makes them.

BTW, I've found JT sprockets to be excellent.

hi,just a quick update on the front sprocket for this bike,
the rebel sprocket will not fit,its close but not the size.
the correct one is part number JTF275,
for honda XL 175(k4),CB 175(k6)

Seems that all Dazon makes now is 350 bikes that have yet to be imported to the USA but are imported to other countries.

That 350 would be the same engine as in a Suzuki DR350.
Its oil air cooled, its interesting it seem they have it configured in a dual sport also, it offers 33hp.
