To refresh peoples memory as it's been a while, my 250 has a crush drive in the clutch, from my homework the 250 is the only Chinese bike/ATV to have a crush drive there. Sometime after the first oil change at 600km the rubber inserts disintergrated. After numerous phone calls and e-mails I come to the conclusion that 250 engine spares don't exist. I found plenty of clucthes form other models that could easily be adapted to fit, but they all have different numbers of teeth on the gear (68-74). After looking unsucessfully for something rubbery to make new inserts out of I had a flash of inspiration, nylon bar, $7 for half a metre of 30mm dia. An hours work with a lathe and a Dremmel and I have 4 new solid inserts. The motor has gone back together using Honda CRF 230 gaskets (the clutch casing is different) so a CRF clutch might fit, but the CRF is not a UK model so any spares would have to be imported. While it was apart I raised the carb needle a notch as the plug was a little white, the needle was already up one notch as stock so it's now on it's highest setting. Since putting it back together 10 days ago I've done 1000km, a screw has shaken out of the number plate and that's the only negative thing to report! The oil consumption has stopped, instant cold starting and fuel consumption has slightly improved to around 95mpg (imperial), 80mpg(US). I'm back to being a happy bunny again.
