Now the bike does much better. It'll go over 50 with the RPMs getting a little high after that. I think if I was going to do mostly street riding I'd get a 41 tooth. But hell its like you guys said with this I can still ride trail. I did encounter a rather tall ranch dog way out cane creek rd. He was just laying by the road when he heard me coming. Now I'm not too sure the old sprocket would have been enough for this Great Dane. When he gave chase i poured on the coals and shifted gears like crazy. Poor ol hound, he had a disappointed look and dirt on his face as he gave up chase. The main thing is I still had plenty of coals to go.

That's a great image. I get a kick out of tire biters.

Running into aggressive ranch/farm dogs out on the trails and dirt roads scares me. I'm afraid the dog will tangle with the bike and cause a crash.

Believe it or not, I have run over a tire biter before. Ironically the dog's name was pebbles. She was a small dog of the neighbours. I was riding an old 70s model 125 yamaha like from "On any Sunday" shocks were so worn out. I remember that the handle bars turned hard to one direction and I went down. It didn't kill her but left my bike with a broken clutch lever and skinned hands. There was no Internet in those days or yamaha dealer nearby so I found a piece of flat bar and about 2 hours latter I had a similar Looking lever. That thing would have stabbed through my hand so fast. I'm glad I survived that bike.

I wonder if she ever chased a bike again.
