thats right folks i finished my msc stuff this past weekend and now just need to go to the dmv to take the written test to be fully legal to ride my bike on the streets whenever i end up with one..
ment to post this sooner but every time i remembered to i was already in bed and not getting back out.
i am pondering going at the end of next month seeing about getting a 2011 ninja 250r.. but i know for sure i will not be going to the dmv untill next month cuz my license needs to be renewed neways...
any one thinking about getting a motorcycle should really really take the msc.. there was so much information learned in that class that i felt totally comfortable on their bikes.. even the first time they explained it so well that it almost felt natural to me even tho i hadnt really ever been on a motorcycle..

Congratulations!
The MSC is an EXCELLENT way to learn, and to learn more, safely. You may also get an insurance discount.
I very much like the New 250R's. I had one a year or two ago. You may also be interested in the CBR250R as well. Truth be told after what I've neen reading it may be the better bike of the two.

i did not know honda came out with a 250, thought kiwi had that market cornered. i am about to open a new web page and do some research on it but when it comes to bikes i do love a kawasaki in every aspect of a bike. looks wise no other bike looks as good to me as a kiwi does. the ninja 250r i used at the msc handled great i think, didnt get to see what the power was like but it felt like it had some pep. a intake, exhaust and a rejet would do nicely but deff not need for the type of riding i will be doing.
and yes i do get a insurance discount for the msc as well as discounts for multi policy discount, snapshot discount, safe driver discount and i think there is one more discount i get but not 100 percent on that last one. so even tho the insurance will go up cuz i am getting full coverage on the bike as well as the max on the personal medical stuff on the policy for the bike. i dont expect it to go up that much. im figuring a ball park of 150 or less a month. right now i pay 108 for the stang with full coverage and thats about to drop here in 24 or 25 days since i installed the snapshot device, ive been driving stupid slow, have not drove between the hours of 12am and 4am which are the high risk times, and only have a total of 16 hard brakes during a total driving distance of 178 miles. so to me thats not that bad on the hard brakes when you think about traffic lights that change at the last second or another driver pulling out in front of you.
truth be told i doubt the bike i get will see a 1,000 miles a year, its mainly going to be for summer time use on nice hot sunny sunday afternoons or early morning rides before the old people leave church and head for the buffet lines. for the first few months im a sticking to side streets untill i feel like i can safely drive normal streets but will avoid highways like I35, 290 and 183 here in austin for a very long time maybe even untill i find myself on a larger bike..
Congrats on the MSC, good choice.
Maybe you should buy a Q?

Yeah, I'd look at the Qlink XF200 SM especially if you can pick one up for $1695 delivered in the crate. It a quality bike,

Congratulations on completing the MSC course, Mike! :D The Nina 250R is an excellent motorcycle, as is the new Honda, 250cc bike. Both of the Japanese bikes are faster than the QLink XF200, but it's also a great little bike. :)

after looking at the kiwi 250r and cbr 250r and comparing the specs on woodsfuncenter.com which is the place id be buying it from since its about 6 miles away.. i think im sticking the ninja 250r but im going to wait to make the finale choice untill i can sit on the honda and compare them in person..

I tend to agree with you, Mike; I believe I like the Ninja 250R a little better. ;) I think comparing these two bikes is quite interesting, so I started a new thread in the Other Stuff Forum. :)

I lean towards the CBR partly because I already had a new model Ninja, and the CBR is different. There are like a zillion 250 Ninjas out there. I also like the idea of the thumper motor's torque, and I like the more conservative look of the Honda :D .
The Ninja is faster though, and that counts for A LOT! :P

its faster and feels way more planted according to a review spud linked in his thread comparing the 2.
doc you should read that review i think it might make you rethink picking the cbr over the ninja.. the cbr's handling is a little iffy from what the review says on it.. plus a smaller lighter bike that falls flat just after reaching highway speeds does not sound good to me. it will get blown all over the freeway everytime a car passes and runs out of passing power very quickly
when i was doing the msc i used mid 90's ninja 250r and loved how the bike feels and the throttle to get going didnt bother me. actually it felt great to me, the bike just seemed to "fit"me perfectly. i was very comfortable in the riding position, i was able to "man handle" the bike very easly.
I had a cbr 125 and it would do 130km/h on the freeway, and was not blown all over too bad as far as I recall... I would imagine a 250 would be faster.
