Nuts.

The first damage to my bike is from my friend carelessly backing over it in the driveway?!

Smashed the poor little bike into the concrete. Bent handlebars, trashed throttle tube scraped up the side cover, broke the mirror and turned the front brake lever into a question mark. Bent rear brake lever.

I have a organized dualsport ride coming up this Friday. I don't think I'll have it fixed in time.

I do that much damage on a good trail ride

A set of bars, an upgrade to a 2 stroke throttle tube, and some levers, you'll be back on the road with a few days to spare.
Look at it as an opportunity for your friend to buy you the parts you wanted in the first place.

Its only Monday. You can have it fixed up in time.

Yuck! Not a good way to break in a new bike... Hope it's not too costly too repair.

Ouch! - I agree with the above - now it's time to get a FEW Upgraded parts. It'll be fine Doc - Hang in there! I think you'll get the parts and be up in running in a couple days, and still make your ride. Look at it this way - At least it wasn't you he backed over!

Handle Bar recommendation: Pro Taper! - I just bought some for my "Q"

PS: I hope you snapped a few Pictures of the damage.

That sucks, Doc. Sorry to hear it.

suprf1y, what makes a two stroke throttle tube an upgrade? Does it create a quarter-turn throttle?

That's terrible! Got pictures?

Seriously, I hope he takes care of you on it! Had a buddy smash his Jeep into my Jeep once. We just let the insurance companies fight it out. They took care of it. No prioblem.

He feels bad and has offered to pay for all the parts, but I still have to wait for them and install them.

Ron has a history of not paying attention in life and he is very stiff and clumsy. He also totalled his Harley 2 weeks ago. He was OK.

maybe these 2 incidents will help him to recognize a potentially dangerous problem.

I hope so.

It turns it into a quick throttle, but I think it's even a little faster than a quarter turn. Made a big difference in feel on my KLX.

Well Doc At least Ron is feeling remorse about it all. Even better offred to pay for all the parts. I know it's bad enough that it happened, but you know you got a friend with all of that. He may even offer to lend a hand and help ya fix the bike - That is if you would want the help. Oh well shit happens. I'm sure you'll back to the NORM Soon. Glad no one got hurt. Thats the important thing. Now go buy some parts! LOL Best wishes.
Andrew :)

PS - TAKE SOME PICTURES FOR US!

Very true Andrew. Ron is a great friend.

I think I had this coming in a way. Yesterday part of the sermon of church was the sin of idolatry. Obviously I don't worship idols but like countless other people I think I made too big a deal of my stuff. The meaningless vain stuff of this world. Toys.

I actually don't think this accident was an accident totally...

Yeah the lord works in mysterious ways. I am thankful for the things that he has given me and aloud me to do. Helping others has been the best. I take real gratification in being able to to that. Very rewarding. Just this year we have been able to give back to our community, with various things. Business was NOT the best year, but actually we were able to sponsor our 1ST Jamestown Coputer Inc Little League Team! I am so looking forward to watching these little ones play ball. My Daughter will only be 1 next month, and I want to be able to instill in her just how rewarding giving back and helping others is. It will all work out for you Doc.......

That sucks Doc! It's always better to be able to make your own 'first door ding'!
Keep us posted on the progress.

I'm very sorry to hear about the damage, Doc. :( It was decent of Ron to offer to make restitution. ;) If you have time, do post some photos so we can properly commiserate with you. :(
