Boy, I hate this.....not that I'm a big scooter guy but this would have been a great project....

I was going to the hardware store with my young friend, Bryan, on Saturday. The conversation went like this:

Bry- I sold Jake's stupid scooter last week. Got 200.00 for it.
Me- Oh, that pile he got for cheap transportation?
Yah, he needed the money so he sold it to me for 100.00.
Wasn't it one of those electric Chinese jobs or something like that?
Nope, it ran on gas. Ran good too. Just needed to be gone through.
Was it complete?
Yah....kinda banged up but it was all there. Definitely fixable.
Wasn't it an odd generic scooter?
Nah....it was Italian, I think. Old one. Started with a "V".
A VESPA!? 8O
Yah....that was it. It was old but it ran good. Still had all the insignias too.
WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME!? :x
I didn't think you'd be interested in a scooter. Heck, you could have had it for the 100.00 I paid for it. The guy who sold it to Jake just put new tires on it too.

:x  :x

AARGH!

I'm a sucker for a good deal on something I don't need as long as it's interesting! You missed out!

That doesn't bug me half as much as the two Vespas I saw in the scrap pile at the transfer station. Once they're in there, you can't get them. They'll be crushed.

Unfortunately Kato, it was in superior shape to the one in the picture, from what I understand. :x He said the seat had a few small slices but Jake (his brother-in-law) rode it to work and back everyday for about 6 months. I wish I could have seen it...though I'd heard about it prior through the grapevine. Poor Jake, as nice as he is, doesn't have a family reputation of making the best decisions sometimes. :?

Obviously, 'their' version of a fixer-upper, is vastly different our OUR version of a fixer-upper. 8O

I wish I could buy from the scrap pile like you, Kato. That said, Mrs. Weldangrind is quite happy that I can't.

Maybe tomorrow I can sneak over to see if its still there. Gerald knows I'm interested.

I think I would just resell it like it is.

I went back today with another load of scrap. The vespa was still there, but closer inspection told me to let it rest. The frame was rotten and most of the parts damaged. I don't have time to part it.

But the junkyard dog had a rough morning.
