Went to put my new front tire on and found that I have some bad front bearings...any directions on line to change them? 6301RS or 6301-2RS are the part numbers I found. Any numbers that the local parts houses woud recognize?

Its on my 2006 Lifan 200gy5 enduro..thanks all.

Your local bearing shop will match them easily, and offer a sealed bearing.

I pulled the front tire off but didnt see how to press the old ones out? Gotta reach through with a punch?

There might be a tube spacer between the two bearings, and they might also have a shoulder that they bottom against. After you've pounded one bearing out, make sure that you're hitting the second bearing and not the shoulder.

I bought a bearing installer at Princess Auto (Harbor Freight should have one for cheap), and it protects the bearing and gives you a handle to work with. It comes with several different sizes, so it's also good for trailers and cars.

Sorry, should have said bearing and seal installer. It's the best way to install a bearing or a seal.

Here's one: http://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-bearing-race-and-seal-driver-set-95853.html

Yikes! That driver set is much more expensive than I had anticipated! 8O I just place one of the the old bearings on top of the new one, and tap the bearing home with a hammer. ;) Place the new bearings in a plastic bag, and place the bag in your freezer for a few hours before you install the bearings. The cold bearings shrink a bit, making them easier to install. ;) After the bearings thaw, they expand a bit, making a tight fit. :)

Spud :)

There is a 20% off coupon in Hot Rod (any many other mags) each month, and it is likley available for download. The seal / driver tool I bought was probably around $10.00 on sale.

I appreciate all the help BUT my wife sold my $500 bike for $700 today as it was. :D

It was getting hard to ride with me 6' 260lb and my 84lb-ish kids so its time for me to get something bigger. It was fun. The kid that bought it asked my wife where the down shift "button" was 8O somethings they dont teach you in class. Atleast its a manageable bike to learn on.

Good news! Sometimees we make a little $ on resale. That's the advantage to buying chep and selling cheap.

Maybe you need a Pitster Pro 400? 8)

You're tall enough for a KLR650. They have no problem 2up.

Roger (250 lbs) and I (175 lbs) and about 40 lbs of gear rode his KLR to Odessa (100 miles) last week no trouble. 8)

I'm not saying we didn't look silly though.
