The Grips are Pro Grip, and I found the guage on ebay for $38 Bucks. It was cheaper then a Trail Tech.......LOL

GadgetBoy,
How much is the investment in your $1395 XF200 up to now? :D Just kidding. Takes all kind.
Running out of room for stickers?

Those are some nice goodies, Andrew. :) Please let us know how you like your digital gauge.

That's cool Andrew! :D
I love the risers.... I have some that should be coming in on Monday. 1.6" rise. Generic looking black units I'll post pics of once I get them mounted. I sure like those though, like what you got there, with the part that fills in where the bar used to be in the triple tree saddle. Nice work there! :D
I have a pair of Protaper bars here I wanted to mount. When you remove the electric controls (switches), you will find holes that they lock into, in the bars. The left one can be taken off with your dremel. The right one....I found, is metal. I believe it to be the ground for the "Big Red Button". I opted not to change the bars at that point and ordered the risers.
If Gadget Guy decides to either drill holes in your new bars or 'reformat' the right switch control somehow to fit, please post it! :D

Do not cut or modify the metal plug in the throttle housing, it is there to keep the entire housing from rotating when the throttle is opened. Removing it would mean that when you give the bike some gas the entire housing rotates back as well. Take several measurements and drill a countersink in the handlebars instead.

Not to minumize you concern Trevort, but that's actually good news! :D I was afraid since it was metalic, it may be a ground of sorts for the kill button.
These bikes and the Vics are the only motorcycles I've owned, out of 46 of them, that have had this little 'safety feature'.

I really didn't want to mention it but your controls are probably not gonna fit on the bigger diameter bars. Its quite a jump from 7/8 to 1-1/8. You can probably mod the switches but the thottle tube is a different story.
Ah, disreguard my above msg. I see they taper to the smaller size as they get to the control area. Pro-taper duh.

So Phoenixrider - You been here done this? Maybe you can fill me in on a few tips before I do this? Did you read above? I am told I may have to do some mods to the controls and install some set screws to keep the controls on? Tell me about YOUR Experience, as It will be at least a week before I'll get some Play time with mine. - Thanks.....

When I changed the bars on my bobber I drilled holes in the bars for the controls using the old bars as a guide. Just measure in from the ends the same distance and position as the old bars. You might regret grinding off the pins on the controls.

I have noticed that on these CB's. Even when you tighten the control screws nice and snug, they don't grip the bars. You can still wiggle them a little in the holes.
When I changed the bars on my Vic, I dremeled them off but they still grip the bars nice and snug upon tightening......like the good ol' days.

As stated above, I also drilled holes in my new bars. If you get the right size drill bit they wont wiggle once installed (atleast mine don't). They went on pretty easy and are well worth the hassle.

DMMCD Just purchased my Bar Risers, In speaking with him and you guys It makes me want to go Tear into it right now.....Unfortunatley I cannot right now.....Until then
EDIT: Phoenix - Did you notice any difference in the aftermarket Bars? Any Smoother? How Do you like them? We'd like to hear about them.
Thanks for all the feedback on Qlink Controls, Handle Bars, Risers etc....

I bought the bars off motosport. They are the RM Carmichael bend for 24 bucks, link below.
http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/product/TURNER-HANDLEBARS-STANDARD-78/?id=108466
The handguards are Acerbis multi-concept touring guards also from motosport.
I cannot emphasize how much smoother the bike rides with new bars, grips and handguards They have practically eliminated handlebar vibration completely.

That's excellent info, Phoenix. I've heard that comment on the forum before, but it's great to get a confirmation.
That price is impressive; I'm experimenting with an old bike right now, and I'm swapping a cush mount top triple to see if the ride is improved. I had an old XS650S when I was a kid, and the cush mount really helped. I might even try aluminum bars like you.

Started to do the ProTaper swap. I found these in my parents barn. My brother bought them for his CRF450, but the Honda uses 1 1/8" bars and these are 7/8", which is perfect for the XF200.
Old bars:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3898.jpg
On the clutch side, there is an indexing hole:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3901.jpg
And on the switch assembly there is a corresponding plastic tab:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3900.jpg
On the brake (right) side, there is also an indexing hole and a corresponding metal tab inside the throttle housing:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3902.jpg
I chose to drill new holes in the new bars. I measured in from the end, and of course I forget the measurements... I know the left side was 4 1/2" in, and I think the right side was 5 9/16" or 5 1/16". The tricky part is getting it to align around the perimeter, as I'm not sure what the final angle of the bars are going to be. But I picked a spot and drilled...
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3903.jpg
It worked out okay. I think I would have moved the hole on the left side a little to rotate the switch up a bit, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Or I could always drill another hole. Here they are on the bike:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll250/dmmcd_80/Bike/Qlink%20XF200/IMG_3905.jpg
I have grips in my parents garage that I am going to put on. I also have risers on the way (Thanks Andrew!) so it's not all buttoned up yet. Also the color in the photo is really off. They have that matte anodized look and are a richer, more maroonish red. I think they look pretty sweet. I also pulled all the stickers off the one side of the bike to see what it is going to look like. I think I like it. :D

I swapped over the Controls today, to the new Pro Taper Handlebars. All I had was my Shitty Camera - Sorry about that. My Fiancee' took the good camera today for our daughters first easter egg Hunt. - Much more important anyways - I put the Bar end Mirrors on the end of the bars. New Grips, New Bars and new clamps. I drilled the holes as mentioned above no problem. I like the bars way better. They are higher and wider. The grips feel way better as well. Heres the Pics.....

I used an old motocross trick in the aluminum bars on my bike and that is to fill them with silicone or expanding foam to help reduce vibration. Also I have end weighs/sliders to help, If you ride a 500cc two stroke you know all about arm pump from vibration alone

FWIW - Here are the clamps I got:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220343734362
My only complaint and I told them about it was when they shipped these they just threw them in a USPS Box. No packing whatso ever. Two metal clamps banging around against each other from florida to PA.
Thay have quite a few scratches on them, not to bad but noticable. Nice clamps but alittle dissapointed in thier shipping methods. We'll see what they say.....

Thanks Vince for the great "PLUG" Idea. I'll have to pick some up....

The new bars and grips feel great. MAJOR MAJOR difference as far as vibration. The Bars are also higher and wider which give me a better control feel.
maybe it's me but it seems that each any everytime I take this little bike for a ride, the stronger and faster it's starting to feel....Anyone experience that on a "q"?
Not sure i'll get in any sunday riding as I don't thimnk the weather is going to cooperate with rain and thunder storms, plus the business is keeping me pretty swamped - No Complaints there!

I used to keep my bikes all spiffed up too when I had a garage and only rode on the weekends. Its fun to have a clean ride others can enjoy looking at. Also my favorite ride around here in the city is my SYM HD200 scooter. Give it the gas and go. The scooter won't work (wrong image but I have outgrown that) for the macho guys/girls but is great for me.

I avoid mud too. The desert dust washes off easily but mud takes longer and tends to make a mess in the driveway. I also like clean bikes, and cars and trucks. They can all expect a bath usually as soon as they get home if they got dirty. The exception is the PP400. It's just passing throrugh.

Don't worry, Andrew. There's nothing wrong with the Multiple Bike/Clean Bike Syndrome. Dirt has nothing to do with miles. It has to do with cleaning hours invested. 8)

Haha! Just ran across this....
Nope......that's an older pic. The Man Cave has had a complete make-over, since this was taken. The red Hensim is gone, the red Vic Kingpin has been eviicted to it's owners house, the Q has been added and also, the Husky is now being stored 'off sight', among other changes. It's much more organized now!
