View Full Version : Forgotten Child
Ya know.....I've been so strung out on the Q since I got her....I totally forgot about this one.
Broke her out today and ripped around the block a few times.
I forgot how good it ran! An extremely likable bike! :D
Snappy throttle now that I have all the 'normal fixes' in place and usual upgrades. Brakes are awesome!....and still...the front forks are superior to the Q's, Must work on that.
Mrs 2LZ is going to have a blast on her this summer! :D
Can't forget about the Hondanoids. They were the first ones, weren't they? 8)

Nice looking Hondoid. :D
I rode my buddy Ron's the other day. Don't they sound great? One of the best sounding stock mufflers ever. Unless they fall off...
Yes!...but Doc! Lest we not forget about all the pains I went thru to make her sound "properly"!
Nothing but a pipe bender, torch, swedge and a little Miller Lite can't cure!

To make her look and sound like this! :D

I love the image of Mrs. 2LZ. A torch in one hand, a beer in the other, helping her husband work on a motorcycle. You are greatly blessed!

Yes! Indeed!...but I will have to remind my dear friend Roger, that he makes a GREAT Mrs. 2LZ double! 8)
I really do think she is much prettier than him though...... 8) ....but they do hold the torch amazingly similar and do drink the same brand of barley pop! :P

I wish I could delete that post. I may have been more embarassed in my life but if so I don't remember when.
All I could see is the hair!

Not a problem Doc!....and his hair is longer now! I do have to say if this is the most embarrassed you've been....come hang out with me for a while. 8O 8)
Honestly though....that little Hondanoid is a runner. I sure wish that Q didn't have the dreaded CV carb attached. I fought Harleys for years with those dang things, just to try to get a good throttle blip.

2LZ, was that the stock midpipe you were bending?
2LZ, was that the stock midpipe you were bending?
Yes....it sure was....but I was bound and determined that I was going to fit that FMF TC.
I know many here have bolted them right on, but mine wasn't anywhere near CLOSE to pointing in the right direction, or the right diameter.
It's a screwed up setup. I'd STILL like to make or get another midpipe.
It comes out of the head, the bigger pipe, necks down to the small pipe for the midpipe....then necked back up to the bigger pipe for the muffler.
It looked like it was tossed together with 'factory scrap'.
Thank God my buddy Rog, is a pipe-fitter (commercial refridgeration) by trade. He had all the gadgets in his truck! :D

I was working on Son of Weldangrind's '83 XR200R on the weekend, and I was fabricating an exhaust system. The stock setup has a giant chamber in the midpipe section, and my buddy says it "looks like part of a cow." The chamber was rotten, but the midpipe was ok, so I chopped the chamber off and tossed it in the scrap pile.
I found a piece of CB exhaust pipe that was a very close match to the midpipe, and it followed the frame very well. It also slipped right into an economy muffler I picked up last week.
I welded the midpipe to the CB tube and painted the whole deal. I'll assemble and test it soon. The reason I asked about your midpipe is that it looks almost exactly like the Honda version. If you scored a midpipe from a later model XR200R (likely post '86), I bet it would fall into place.
