On a whim and being tired of my bike falling over while working on it, I ordered this bike stand from Harbor Freight yesterday.

http://www.harborfreight.com/350-lb-motocross-dirt-bike-stand-66552.html

I found a coupon for 25% off so it pretty much equalled free shipping. I suppose it's too late to ask if anyone has used this one, :) but I did check the reviews and it sounds pretty good for the price. I ALMOST bought a compressor but figured I'd poll you guys if the oil-less ones are any good.

Looks better than a plastic milk crate...

I was thinking of making one of these as they are usually pretty expensive, but at that price it looks like a good deal. Let me know how it works out, I might be interested in getting one myself.

I have the Same Exact one. Not to spoil this - But I was NOT happy with mine - Very Cheap, but Functional. You'd been better off purchasing the Motorcycle Jack for $89 - Much more heavy duty - stable etc....HF Seem to take forever to get me the stand. You will also have to do alittle assembly as well. - Like I said "Cheaply Made" - Sorry......I would NOT recommend this atand.

I have that stand, and yeah, it's cheap. It works fine as a stand, but upgrading the bolts is a good idea. Make sure you use the safety pin all the time.

Ok, this is the worst day of my life now.

Just kidding. :D Thanks for the warnings, I'll be sure to be careful with it.

It actually works very well on a low bike that I have. I leave it at the bottom setting, and I still have to lift the bike slightly to sit on the stand.

Just got one last month.
Taller than I was expecting. I actually have to lift my Q up onto it before I can raise it. I have a feeling it's more for my neighbors CR450F height of bike.
Not bad for doing the front or the rear.....but having it all in the air at the same time............very precarious.
I got it due to the sidewalk sale plus super coupon. Couldn't say no for the money spent. 8)

Not to scare anybody off buying one, but I think your much farther ahead to pop for the actual hydraulic jack type motorcycle lifts. I have one I bought on sale at Canadian Tire and I use it often, mostly for chain maintenance but also when pulling tires etc. Plus it works for lifting the ATV up as well. Money well spent in my opinion for the amount I use it :)

Hmmm.... I'm sure there is some way to modify it to make it work better and be more stable. I'll think about it.

Andrew, I wish you were closer, I could save a lot on shipping when buying up the stuff you don't want anymore!

Just use the safety pin each time and secure the bike to the stand with a ratchet strap. That's what I do and it works great.

Having a cheap bike stand is better than not having one at all. I once used my engine hoist to lift my bike when I had to replace the back tire.

I think it was a good buy.

I use my HF lift all the time.

A friend came over the other day and I raised his Shadow up and cleaned and oiled his chain in a few minutes.

HF has a fancy pansy model now for Gadget Boy at

I've got the old steel model.

For chain maintenance, removing the rear wheel, and holding the bike upright for general maintenance, I prefer using my T-Rex swingarm stand. :)

For removing the front wheel I prefer to use my Vertical Horizon fork lift stand.

Both these stands are lightweight, easy to store, easy to use, and relatively inexpensive. I use them both all the time, and I don't know what I would do without them. :D

there s nothing like a good safe lift IMHO and that s why i got me one of these:

http://www.oneup.com.au/content/original-red

not cheap, but worth it. still i find thinking is needed, as best lift position needs to be considered for each bike.

This is the Kind of lift I sold or should say gave away - Except it was a Craftsman. It's definately on the list of up and coming must have's....

They work raising the bikes with very little effort - Great for me becuase I cannot lift The Q up by myself unto that little stand from HF - I have to Jack it up with my Floor jack and then put the stand underneath. - This stand that Barnone is showing us is definately the way to go at a very affordable price. - Thanks for sharing Barnone - GadgetBoy Likes! I got my stand, yesterday, put it together today, lifted my bike with it and it immediatley a fireball consumed the whole thing and from the fire stepped an ancient Chinese Samurai Ninja Mongolian Warrior from Northern Korea who spoke a strange language that I had to put in Google Translator to understand.

愚è¢çš„ç¾Žåœ‹äººï¼Œä½ è²·åŠ£è³ªç”¢å“ï¼

Then he laughed and disappered and everything was normal again. Maybe it didn't really happen after all.

Oh well, I thought that would be more interesting than just saying, I got it, here it is and it works great with a cargo strap! :)

Thorgram

The project is in the end stages at this point. Installing a Vapor Tach/Speedo/Odo, new headlight and that's pretty much it now.
Life keeps getting in the way of progress, I'm sure everyone out there can relate.

So, Canadians are not included in that rant? BTW, I've never heard of an ancient Chinese Samurai Ninja Mongolian Warrior from Northern Korea.

That's because they're so incredibly stealthy than even the government themselves don't know they exist! Actually I'm still totally in awe at zingshoen's lift... I've never seen one like that before!

I'm originally from Canada so I have the best of both worlds. I can defend or bash either side if necessary :D
