I took the XF out for a nice evening ride last night to get some things at Home Depot, then took the "long" way home. I drove right past this apartment complex around 9:45 pm, which is about 4 blocks away from my house, totally unaware of what had happened. We heard helicopters circling late at night, and I figured there was an accident somewhere close by.

I have 4 little kids, my oldest is 5. We walk around this area as a family all the time. This has hit me and my wife pretty hard. The girl was a 3rd grader at the school my son will be going to next year.

It feels good to share our worries, so please pray for the family and the community.

Terrible.

I believe that it is our responsibility as 'free' Americans, especially if we have loved ones we are trusted to protect, to ALWAYS have the means for self protection available.

Hammer your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Train even your weaklings to be warriors.

Joel 3:10

Nowadays that means carry a firearm. Personally I have a Keltec on my person always.

While I feel rage, anger and sadness for this little girl, I don't think a 9 year old should carry weapons...

I am more of a love your enemies and practice humility and follow Jesus' example New Testament believer; I am Mennonite. However, I also believe in justice and judgment, but we are taught that judgment is for God. These are hard issues, as eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. In a perfect world that works, but when you have 24 year old lunatics sexually assaulting and killing innocent children only a few blocks from your home, it is much harder than it sounds.

I heard a news blurb on the radio this morning.

Of course I meant for adults. We are in the world, but not of the world. Just passing through.

I'm truly saddened to hear of this tragedy. :( My prayers go out for the parents of the murdered child.
