Lifan scooter - 2-stroke 50cc?

Does Lifan produce a 50cc 2-stroke scooter?

Lifan doesn't have it listed on americanlifan.com but Hooper Imports has it:

Oops...wait a minute, the hooper site says 4-stroke but the Lifan china site says 2-stroke?
Maybe the importer can chose a different engine...but of course we all know that all Lifan bikes are ALWAYS equipped the same way! :wink:

2006 is the last year for almost all road going 2 strokes. We're losing the Stella scooter after this. A neat Vespa PX-150 ex-licensed product made in India. USA $3100 about. Almost all manufacturers going to 4-stroke engines. I guess since the average 2-stroke pollutes a lot more than a Hummer H2 it makes sense but I hate to see it. Frostbite if you want a 2-stroke scoot I can give you a few ideas from reputable makers. No idea on Canadian availability though!

They're still selling Yamaha 50cc 2-stokes here but I was looking for something a bit more affordable for my wife.

If manufacturers would apply some of the pollution control technology that is used by boat motor manufacturers we could still get 2-stroke bikes in most places except for probably California. :(

Frostbite, these are very high quality scooters. There is a dealer near me. They are very capable and can handle "light" off roading if she wanted to follow you down a dirt road. Easily modified to go faster. How fast is a question of how much $ . These are every bit as good as a Zuma from Yamaha and cost about $1399 in the U.S.

The closest Canadian dealer want's $2495 CAD. I can get a Yamaha locally for that price.

Even with the exchange rate its much cheaper to buy it in the US.

Frostbite www.reidscycle.com in Northport Maine is probably the closest to you. Still one hell of a ride! He lists them at $1600 but it's fall and he would deal misquoted they are $1599 retail US. The Strada's are a high quality scooter as well just more sporty than tough looking. See what they go for up there. Also United Motors still has a two-stroke 50cc scoot. Why not get her a GY150? Or smaller if thats too tall? She can learn to shift!:D

In New Brunswick anything over 50cc requires a motorcycle license.

Not a bad idea anyway....and a safety course to boot! I don't quite understand the hang up on the license issue . Same issue in Maine people don't want to get it. 2 Day course in Maine and you get your license. Or 1 day course and you get your permit which allows you to ride anywhere but on interstate, with passengers, or after dark. Then take road test when ready. Not picking on you or the wife Frostbite but it's as easy to get hurt on a Scoot as it is on a motorcycle. There's no shame in safety....to many don't take scooters seriously. In my opinion they actually require more skill than a small motorcycle cause of the small wheels. Much more susceptible to loose gravel/oil and pothole spills. Sorry didn't mean to preach!

Aaron is right about the Strada 2 strokes being good quality. They are manufactured by QJ and the quality is right up there with the best and you get a Chinese price.

2 strokes are alive and well so don't everybody panic. We sell the Strada line of 2 strokes made by QJ. These bikes are comparable to Kymcos in terms of quality but are about 1000 less. They start at $1199 delivered for the RX50 and range to $1449 delivered for the RX8i. Can't go wrong with one of these. 45mph out of the box and some claim after breakin speeds of over 50 mph GPS tested.
