I went to look at this little bike today. Super clean. Even has original 31 year old sales slip, tool kit and manual. This guy bought it from the original owner a month ago or so. New tires, clean carbs, runs perfectly.
Chain needs adjustment, slightly leaky left fork seal (very slight, the oil does not even get on the fork leg or wiper), and the steering bearings have a notch in them and need to be replaced. This is a common problem with these old GS's.
The paint is excellent, one side cover a little faded. No rust scratches or damage. 'Near show' condition. It doesn't even need a bath.
What are your opinions? :?:

You can likely guess my Canadian opinion. That bike would sell for closer to $1400.00 in Southern BC.

That's a nice little motorcycle, Doc. :) It just goes to show you, one can find a lot of good deals on used, Japanese motorcycles, if he just looks around. ;)

I tried for $650 but can't get him down that low...
It's worth whatever someone would pay for it... :P I wouldn't buy it for that because I don't need another one, so to me, no it's not. You don't need it either, as you already have a pretty full stable, but you want it... So the question is, is it worth that much for how much you want it? I don't know that one. Are you wanting it because it's a cool old bike, or to keep it for a while and flip it? Then the question is how much can you get back for it?

You have read my situation correctly, Jim.
I liked it because it has a little sentimental value as I rode one in residency. It's also a cool old bike, and I have a 750 of similar vintage.
If I had it I'd finish it's restoration (very little) commute on it and buzz around for the summer and then try to flip it and break even or make a few $ for my effort.
As far as the stable goes it's at a minimum now. I have the KLX and GW which are permenant members of the 'collection' and serve 90% different functions in my life. The 10% overlap is I commute on both/either depending on my needs and my mood.
The only other bike is the antique/classic 1978 GS750 which is fully restored and travels only a few weeks out of the year as my 'Buddy Bike' on annual tour of about 2,000 miles or so.

Clean and runs good and is what you want then yeah...I'd say $700 is more than fair.
