So because I'm on the slow side and have bought too many parts/pieces that should have but didn't fit, I would like the opinion of the china experts. I'm planning on swapping out the 56 tooth rear sprocket on my shine and I want to make as certain as possible that I buy the correct one. here are some pics of whats on it. the numbers on the one pic say "SJ 567. I'm pretty sure it's a 56 tooth sprocket just not sure what model jap bike is the same. when I go to bikebandit it wants me to put in what bike I'm looking up parts for and I tried using the chart under tech info on this site but the bolt pattern on my my bike and what bikebandit pulls up arn't within a row of buttholes of each other. so what am I doing wrong? also, by going to a smaller sprocket will I have to shorten the chain? thanks guys.....http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h350/sallzy/photo-7.jpg

Hi sallzy
The issue is BikeBandit doesn't know what a "ShineRay" Motorcycle is. They don't even have it listed on their site from what I know of. Neither does any other Aftermarket Supplier such as Parts Unlimited, Tucker Rocky, Western Power Sports, Dixie International, KK Motorcycle supply, Sudco Inc, JT Sprockets, SunStar Sprockets, Sprocket Specialists or any other company that is big in selling aftermarket parts.
I may have the rear sprocket you need in stock, if I don't I can order it in & have here to ship to you in a day or two. Call me, let me know exactly what you want the bike to do {Speed/Power} and I'll set you up with the correct teeth count for the rear sprocket. I will also need the tooth count from your front sprocket to get this correct. You may contact me @ the number listed in my signature during my business hours.

Thanks bruce. Let me get the front sprocket count and I'll give you a ring.

What is that ring riveted to the sprocket outside the bolt circle? Grease catch? I've never seen that before.

I believe it is a JTR269, I bought this one and it fit the hondoid hi-bird.

Bruce, if you have any of the Lifan rear sprockets, those should be a simple bolt-on (I think the GY-5 came with a 44 tooth rear?) for him.

I think you are correct--I never did own a GY-5, but I remember the multitudes of chinariders members who owned them flaunting  their ability to get their Chinese bikes up to 60 to 65 due to their (stock) sprocket setups versus the rest of us whose bikes came stock with very street unfriendly sprockets--56 tooth rears were the standard for most of us, and the low-cost bikes continue to come with them :?

Dmmcd, I'm not sure what that ring is but grease catch sounds good to me.

Hi sallzy
I'm glad I could help ! I wish you the best with the bike.
@wilserchinarider... The Lifan 200GY-5 is a 17-46.
The ring that is riveted to the rear sprocket is a "Protector" in case the chain comes off to protect the sprocket nuts & bolts.
There are only a few companies that had this on the rear sprocket, I don't know of any aftermarket sprocket that comes with it today from any of the Major Brand sprocket manufacturers.

Just got my sprocket, chain and breaker from Bruce. Everything looks really good. I'm curious tho. The sprocket I got is a 45 tooth job yet I've also seen alot of 46 tooth sprocket being used on these china bikes. Other than the obvious 1 tooth difference, is there any other difference between the 2?

Nope, just a different gear ratio.

Chris, where'd you get your race cdi box and did you notice a difference after you installed it?

I got my full race C.D.I from ebay, the blue one for gy6 engines and such. it is like night and day. only draw back is you have to re-jet ans re-adjust the carb to get it to idle when warmed up.I also becomes very cold blooded and idles lumpy like a 4 stroke MX bike.other than that it runs fantastic once you dial it in., my 30mm carb comes Monday, cant wait to try tuning that 8)

My 30 mm carb made a world of difference. Runs a whole lot smoother.

Great to know, dose the engine run better at higher rpm's? Were you able to use the jets the carb came with?

The only thing I had to do was set the idle. Didn't touch anything else and it runs great right up to full throttle.

The Gio Beast atv has a pushrod Honda clone 200cc engine, and most everyone that installed a 30mm Mikuni found that a jet change was a significant improvement (following a swap to a free flowing muffler and a Uni pod filter). The pilot went from 20 to 25, and the main went from 100 to 110. Super easy and cheap.

this carb must have been a california jobby. there is no adjustment to the needle jet(no notches) the float bowl screws were (notice I said "were" ) tamper proof and there was a plug over the idle mixture screw. It's running so good now I hate to mess with it. on top of that I just installed my 45 tooth sprocket and heavy duty chain. can't wait to take it for a rip.

Whare do I find the jets??? All the shops around my area that would have them closed 5 years ago. We have nothing, over 100miles to the nearst shop that actually stocks parts.

Sounds, fun, it is a shame you got a sealed carb, the coming tomorrow is a fuly adjustable one.

Remove the jets from your new carb and start searching online. They will be easy to find, once you know what they look like.
