so my batt box had vibrated so much that it broke off at the mount section of it.

I had taken it to work but they didn't want to weld it because it is galvanized

so i decide that i should take it to a local shop and support a local bussiness

the guy wanted $50 to weld 2 - 1/8" thick pieces to the back....i don't think so

went home and grabbed an old bed frame and got to work.

Be very careful that your screw heads aren't contacting the battery. They can cause an earth ground and they can cut through the plastic. It'd be best to still have someone weld it.

Put an ad on craigslist...you'll find a sympathetic local to do it for you. If not, mail it to me and I'll do it.

i have some rubber matt that i can cut and slide in between the bolt heads (they are round) and the batt. there is no movement as far as the batt is concerned.

If it's insulated from the bolt heads that's all you really need.

Excellent work! I've used bedframe steel for several projects in the past.

It's time for you to invest in a little MIG welder. You'd love it, and you'd commence to welding the planet.

ya i am happy with the way it turned out.
it is way stronger than the old mount and doesn't move one bit.

mmmm my own welder that would be nice.......

The little $90 one from Harbor Freight is a great value for such tasks. It's what I use for 90% of my work.

If you play the game right you can get a coupon that'll stack with a sale lol. I got mine for $60. HF is gettign pretty stingy about coupons lately, though.

Yeah, it says right on the coupon that it's not valid on welders, although sometimes you can get away with it.

Midlife, the good news is that there's a location in Bellingham. It's across the street from Lowes on Sunset. :D

Still pisses me off that they did that. I had coupons that had no limitations valid until March of this year but they stopped accepting them back in November. That's a whole other thread's worth of ranting, though.

I was disappointed as well, but I got away with an awful lot before they put limitations on the coupons. :D

Midlife, Princess would be another good source for cheap wire feed welders. Watch the flyers.

good job on the repair. i had to repair mine as well, but it is just plastic (part of the body mold) in the gio beasts. it hadnt fully broken off, but tore, i just made a box and welded it around the plastic (edit so people dont think i'm nuts and welded it TO the plastic... welded to the frame just above). there isnt much room to get the air filter in and out, but what can ya do... besides make a snorkel...lol maybe
