I've looked for a while and I haven't seen anything yet. I'm sure alot of people are wondering the same thing. Is there any chance of dropping say a 500cc engine into the MC_D250RTB?

I've found some engines like this http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/422623515/500cc_gasoline_engine.html

Are they swappable?with or without new brackets and hardware?
thanks for all the help!

That's a nice looking, air cooled, 500cc engine; it even has an oil cooler! :) I don't think you would have too much trouble getting that engine into the frame of the bike in you photograph. However, I think you would probably have a difficult time acquiring a single engine from the importer. ;)

We researched that 500cc engine but could not verify that it actually existed. Maybe you will have better luck.

This engine would be the one to put in the DF bobber since it is based on the CG125 like the existing engine in the DF and the Heist but it does not appear to exist either.

In theory it should bolt right in the DF or Heist frame.

You could sell a bunch of this 400cc engine if it existed. I'd probably buy one for my DF.

On GSTwins.com you can get a good deal on motors. I'm willing to bet if you went there and offered $400 on a motor and all wiring/carbs/etc you'd get it.

That's an easy 40hp, cheap, and reliable. If I were to go through the effort I would be looking for a streetbike engine...budget bikes make dirtbike motors understandable but when you take into consideration the parts you'll need, the fabrication materials, and your time (at least 15 hours @ $85/hr), it's no longer a "budget" bike.

Im trying to basically remove the 250cc and drop in the 500cc with as little fabrication (engine mounts) as possible, tuning of corse but will a street bike engine fit/use the same mounting holes as the little 250cc?

A Royal Enfield engine? I don't think so.
Not much more power than the existing 167FMM engine.

You'll have to work up new mounts for pretty much anything you get...but mounts are easy.

Do you really want to invest your funds in an obscure, hard to acquire engine? What happens when you foul a head or spin a crank bearing? If you're going to go through this trouble, it would be wise of you to use a real engine.

Mac,used engines have went through the roof since I saw you on the GS forums last.A good bare GS engine goes for $600 to $1000.The last engine I sold complete, ready to drop in brought in $1150.It was pulled from a 93 with a little over 16,000 miles. The wiring harness with the ignition parts sold for $225.It's not a budget area any more, like it used to be.The GS engine is to tall for the DF Bobber frame. It was verified on another forum,GSTwins IIRC.
