My Beta Chrono 2.5 (a.k.a. Qingqi QM250-2D)

Hi Everybody,

I'm from Argentina and I own a Beta Chrono 2.5
It's the chinese Qingqi QM250-2D, sold by the italian brand Beta in Argentina.

I own it since October 2010 and ride over 13.500 km by now.
It has a 250cc monocylinder SOHC 2 valves manufactured by Qingqi under licence from Suzuki (the same engine as TU250).

It runs great and it has a quality above the media chinese bike sold here in Argentina.

I'm very happy with the bike... it runs great, it's very confortable, it loads a lot of fuel (22L = 5,78 gallons!) and has an autonomy of over 600 kms.

Here in Argentina we have an invasion of chinese bikes of every quality you can imagine. There are many local brands that are importing and assembling the bikes here, and selling them at low cost.

Lots of cubs and CG125 clones, lots of rebel250 clones, and everything you can imagine.

But there are only 2 "factories" that sell quality chinese bikes: Beta and Jawa (who sells the Regal Raptor bikes under the Chzech brand)

For example... my bike new is worth A$ 14000, thats about US Dollars 3350.
Another 250cc bike, for example a Nighthawk CB250 clone is around 10000 A$, about US Dollars 2400.

That looks like a Suzuki TU250 engine.... Is it OHC? :D

That is a nice looking bike. Beta makes good stuff, so I'm not surprised that their Chinese products are very good also.

Yes Sir... you're very right!

It's the Suzuki TU250 engine, SOHC, 2 valves, 20,6hp, 5 gear gerbox

The engine is manufactures under license of Suzuki by Qingqi (who also makes engines for Suzuki itself (DR125/200) and for Mercury Marine - Outboard engines)

Those are nice what did you pay for that bike in Argentina?

They do not offer those in the USA, currently there is no one importing any of the Qingqi motorcycles to the USA. The model does have EPA approval for 2011 though.

The “agent of process” that being the name it is certified under is Dafier Inc.
These are the approved models: Qingqi QM250-2D, Qingqi QM250GY-2D, Qingqi QM250GY-B, Qingqi QM250GY-B(A)

The WMI is LV7 for those, others JQ models use LAE but both are Jinan Qingqi.

The models engine rating with the EPA is 19.04 hp@7500 rpm. That is the exact same as the data on the Suzuki TU250 recorded with the EPA for 2011.

It is very unlikely we will see those offered in the USA, the price point on those and the demand for 250 are not good enough to bring them here.

Qlink offers the 200cc @ $2,600.00 and a 250 would likely be much higher in price. They are basically the same frames as the 200cc bikes we see as the XP/XF200 offered by QLINK. The versions listed, models listed with the EPA, are bikes we have seen and can be seen on the QINGQI website.

They allocate production to the markets that pay the most for them, not offered in the USA and waiting lines in china. Offered in other countries though and only ones that will pay the most for them.

The retail price for my bike in argentina is currently A$ 14.000 / US$ 3.350 aprox.

We also have your Qlink XF200, sold as Beta Motard 2.0 at A$ 12.000 / US$ 2.900 aprox.

And we recently can buy also the Beta Motard 2.5 (it's the XF200 with the TU250 engine, teh same that carries my bike) at A$ 16000 / US$ 3.850

So, there is no importer of qingqi bikes in the USA? What happened to the Dallas, TX people who had the distribution?

The riding position is very similar to the riding position of the 90s ZX6/ZZR600, with its handlebars far away and big, long gas tank. It has the handelbars directly fastened to the fork, with good grip and very comfortable.

Qlink still is selling the XP/XF, just not importing any more at this time. They have not since 2009, they may start again and then they may also shut down…point is nobody is currently importing anything made by Qingqi.

Everyone assumed that Qlink would import the 250 versions, but they have not.

This is who is the Agent of Process (manufacturer) listed with the EPA for 2011 for all of the 250cc models

For 2011 the only listing within the EPA, you have to be on the list to sell a model within the model year, for JINAN QINGQI MOTORCYCLE CO., LTD as the OEM has Dafier Inc. also as the Agent of Process and that's a formal term for any of the numerous names often referred to as a manufacturer.

BETA sells in the USA they have all these models for 2011: 350 RS, 350 RS-sm, 400 RS, 400 RS-sm, 450 RS, 450 RS-sm, 520 RS, 520 RS-sm

They also have an Agent of Process, it is AB Distribution, Inc. DBA American Beta, the OEM is Betamotor S.p.A. and all the models they offer here are made in Italy.

The Betas are not that expensive in the US!

We have here also the 450RR (Dirt) and MOtard version.
It's worth US$ 14000... our exchange ratio is 1US$ = 4.15 A$ and a montly salary of an qualify employee is about A$ 5000 ( US$ 1200)

Beta targets with their italian machines only high competition customers.

They bring all the parts from Italy and assembly them here in Argentina...
The same with the China imported products... they importa all the parts and assembly here... Only the Beta Euro (OEM Loncin) is imported all assembled...

The rest of "chinese Betas" are asembled here: BS110, Urba110, BK150, Motard 2.0, Motard 2.5, TR 2.0, Chrono 2.5
