I think the book says 5,000. I change it about every 1000 and the filter at the same time. If you use it more on the road I'd say 2000-3000 miles.

Valve check is at 8000 miles, shim under bucket.

There is a sight window on the right, partly blocked by the rear brake pedal you may have to push it down to see it well.

Hey I don't have the manual yet for the klx but how many miles between oil changes on this bike? Also on my Klr 650 there was a glass thing that showed you your oil level. Is there not one on the klx250? Thanks. Ps ya Lake George is a beautiful place

I'd recommend Dunlop 606's which I have run the last 2 sets. They are the most aggressive street legal off road tires available. Ditto Pirelli MT21's. If you want the motocross tire that will do best on the street I run Dunlop 952's. That's what I have on my dualsported YZ400F
