Compared to some other vehicles, there's not much out there for the Soul. Mostly dress up stuff. I have a write up where I installed Airlift 1000 kit air springs inside the OE rear coil springs to aid in using my hitch. I use the hitch to carry bicycles and occasionally a cooler on a cargo carrier. Without the air springs, the dim lights blind oncoming traffic because they are directed up and out. The bright lights become useless, except for plane spoting. :lmao:

I decided not to take my big 80 gallon air compressor out here to the desert. Instead I sold it out in Georgia and went on the hunt for a smaller air compressor once we got here. Just something to keep the tires topped up and run the occasional air tool. I found this little gem at Tractor Supply today.

It was on sale for $99+T.T.A.T. (or at least tax, the tag and title will be optional. ;) ) So far it was easy to set up, and it did a great job getting the tires in my work truck up to the 70psi I like to run them at. I also bought an outside water bucket for the dogs. They're usually inside dogs, but with the desert heat and complete lack of humidity I wanted to have an extra source of water for them outside.

This morning I was on my way to Lowe's to get some supplies for a project at home. I went through a curvy section of road pretty hot. I shook up the fuel tank pretty good. Coming out of the last curve, I got almost to the top of the hill and the truck cut back. I made it the hundred yards to the red light and stopped. She's still running but not well. I made the turn, hit the throttle, hoping to blow it out. She shut down and rolled off the side into a man's front yard. I tried to restart. No go. Let her sit about 15 minutes while I text the GF to let her know I need her to leave work and come get me. A helpful fellow pulled up. I tried to start the truck. You know that sickening sound when the battery is almost dead? I got that.

The helpful fellow did a big ole U-turn, mid-intersection, in his older Tacoma and hood up his cables. I offered mine but he was already set up. Hop in, hit the key, and she sprung to life. We looked at each other, looked at the truck, and said, "She ain't sounding too happy." He offered to follow me to Lowe's. I thanked him and told him I wanted to lower the tow bill as much as possible and turned back toward home. I made it home. She wasn't happy pulling even the slightest hill. I did a check on the alternator before shutting down. I checked the battery. Everything checks out. Hit the key but not far enough to start the truck. HOLY CRAP! It sounded like cats fighting in my fuel tank when the fuel pump primed. I damn near ran for cover.

The point of the story? I was forced to order a complete sending unit with fuel pump for my truck today. The real pisser. I have to take it out and completely replace it next year when I do the diesel conversion.

That sucks, Ben... Sounds to me like the diesel conversion is going to get pushed back a bit so you can drive some of the value out of your shiny new fuel pump... Hope it all works out for you!

Bought most of it about a week ago, but got most of it in the last couple of days.

I decided to keep my Goldwing a bit longer....so I ordered a few things to modernize it a bit more.

Not pictured is 2 extra drive shafts, an extra swing arm to modify for a wider tire, and a set of hubs to lace new rims for the front and rear. A new water pump, timing belts, rollers for upgrading the belt tensioners, and complete oil pump assembly.

Pictured. A GL1200 EFI/ITB setup - plenum needs to be narrowed 10mm to work, but otherwise bolts right up.
A Microsquirt with a 30mm OKO carb for size comparison.
And a Motogadget M-unit.

Version 6 coming soon....

Thanks and Probably. I was going to upgrade to a manual transmission at the same time.

A bag o' 40 Dremel style buffing wheels. Just right for cleaning up the brass contacts on distributor caps and rotors.
