Interesting ride today....

I saw the image painted on some barn doors and stopped to introduce myself to a guy named James. I asked if I could take a picture and he said I could. That led to a conversation where we told stories about our youth, his grandparents, our motorcycles (he has a Harley), and how strange it is that you always feel Ok right after being badly injured like being hit in the head or walking around on broken ankles. But shortly after that the pain starts and reality sets in.
Anyway here is the pic:

James said that his Grandfather had that painted on the barn doors and his Grandmother liked it so much she made a quilt with that image on it. And that he has that quilt now that his Grandmother has passed on.
Today was a very good day.

Looks to be the result of an unfortunate liaison between a VW van and a Cub Cadet lawnmower...

Zapkin 06-05-2023 08:11 AM

Looks like some little European truck built for their tiny roads and alleyways. Or perhaps a family of dwarves?

I think it might be a cushman

Way cool!! You are correct! I did a search for Cushman van and found a picture of a Cushman Vanster.
Attachment 29366
I also searched for Cushman trucks. I had no idea Cushman made vans, trucks, pickup trucks, and all sorts of odd, but useful, vehicles.

Bruces 06-05-2023 07:25 PM

Cushman make a ton of smaller simple vehicles used in factories ,warehouses ,huge commercial facilities ,hospitals ,universities etc ,some of the mines in my area have used them before so I have seen and worked on many styles of them before .They are kind of like a golf cart ,or John Deere Gator etc . But Cushman was around before all of them .

It looks perfect for Rodney Dangerfield's mobile bar.

Had the KPR 200 out again today and found this old bridge. It used to be the only way across the river before they closed the road and built new roads. I took the pic standing on the new bridge that replaced the old one.

wonder if its safe to fish from it?

I took a walk on that bridge and while there is plenty of evidence of folks fishing from the bridge (lots of fishing line complete with lures hanging from a phone/tv cable next to the bridge) there is no guarantee any fish were actually caught. :lmao:

Had my Ninja out today. Is that blasphemy? Anyway these guys ran out in front of me. Love that front brake or I'd have been... flocked.

Went for a ride today to try out a cheap suction cup camera mount. I did attach a light cable lanyard just in case. It stayed stuck for 177 miles. Here is just a quick clip.

Went out to play today. Had some fun...
Attachment 29552
before the sky opened up and drenched me. I mean drenched where the only dry spot was my hair inside my helmet. And there isn't much of that left to get wet anyway.
Then on the other side of a nice left hander that opened into a little dip that hid what was coming up. Here is what was on the other side of the dip...
Attachment 29553
And even though there aren't any lawns along there, just the sides of the road, that grass continued on to spoil the remaining set of curves...
Attachment 29554
This particular road is a favorite for cruisers, full dress touring bikes, and sport bike riders. Some of whom can't resist riding a bit ... ummm... spirited. Just my opinion but I don't think the residents much care about the speed so much as the noise from a bike at full chat with a loud aftermarket exhaust. So I can't help but wonder if the grass might be a passive/aggressive statement?

90 degrees here today. Not too terrible as long as I kept my KPR 200 moving. I had lots of fun and I even thought about reaching down in this curve to see if I could touch the road with my fingers. I chickened out.

I just love fresh pavement that has had a chance to be rained on and cure for a few days. No dirt, no oil, no potholes. Just smooooth traction.

Played with my KPR 200 a little today. Glad those yellow signs are just a recommended speed. Come ride with me for a few moments......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCmWGezD_24

Poor little KPR 200 giving almost it's all carrying my plump derriere through the curves.

Them little patches of concrete...man! Is that a little bridge or something?

I remember making a right turn on my Harley and it was raining a little. The front tire hit a manhole cover and pushed through the entire thing. I thought I was going down for sure, put my right foot down and was able to manhandle it back upright.

That was a short bridge indeed. The front pushed at the moment shown in the picture. I didn't put my foot out but shifted my weight left and forward a little but the front end had already regained full traction anyway. But it was a pucker moment.

Picked up a few of those in the Eastern Cape in South Africa off the highway... Early mornings especially. But be careful, you gotta hold them out front away from you.. I had one pee`d all over me... Not a smell that I would use as aftershave, not to even talk about their bite....:hehe:

I love riding in the curves on country roads but some days are just filled with wildlife in the wrong places. First one was the deer on the other side of a nice curve. Mommy deer runs off to the right and watch for Bambi leaping on the left:

And shortly after that I met Big Bird having lunch:

Your bike sounds mean as hell!

Bikenut 08-02-2023 05:34 PM

Played a little yesterday. I am constantly amazed at how a 9/10ths sized 17hp bike ridden by a 6' 1" 235lb fat old man (ya... that would be me) handles through curves.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk2HmSVJPJk

2LZ 08-03-2023 01:44 PM

I know that "fat old man" part very well!

Bikenut 08-04-2023 05:30 PM

Not sure if the tire tracks will show up on little screen phones but I'm guessing someone in a car took the inside of the corner at high speed. I don't care if folks take curves at speed but geez.. stay in yer own lane so ya don't endanger oncoming cars and especially bikes!

Bikenut 08-08-2023 08:12 PM

Out playing today then......
Hard to see Mommy deer crossing first, then a Bambi, then... surprise!!... another Bambi!!!!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ec1c9lpXJc

Bikenut 08-10-2023 06:01 PM

Found some gravel in the middle of my line through a curve. KPR 200 wiggled a little but just carried on.

Stopped at what is locally called "The Hippie Tree" yesterday. It's a favorite spot for riders to pull over and B S for a bit. And obviously someone not only created it but is taking very good care of it and the area around it.

That sucker had a hard life! Looks like it got zapped by lightning. I love the little, almost pointless, definitely passive aggressive trash can. I hope that thing is anchored to the ground because a stiff wind might blow it into traffic.
