Just sick and thinking

Well since moving down here near my grandchildren it has become apparent that the little snot-nosed kids are going to make me sick. You see I'm 51 years old now and I have abused my body severely but I was blessed with good genes which is one of the injustices of the world but I'm not going to complain anyway tomorrow it's going to be warm and I'm missing a spoke and something does not feel right but I'm going to ride I'm not going to go far I'm going to ride and I suggest that if you have the opportunity you ride as well good night my friends

Bikenut 11-13-2023 10:34 PM

I never miss an opportunity to ride... although at 75 my limits have changed from when I was in my 20's to 40's. Used to be in the winter I'd ride the 35 miles to work as long as there was less than half an inch of snow on the roads. Now anything under 55 degrees is too cold. But I are wary of riding when sick because of the slower reflexes, the lesser focus, and it's hard to see with snot on the face shield.

I hear you bikenut, me too. Will be riding today, and until it get below 45 degees. Love my bike just getting to old,Thinking a side by side is next, had one a china made one and it was nothing but problems. Thinkinking Can Am,but so much money.

42 degrees this morning. Too dark to see if it’s been raining overnight - $2 says it has. But my morning is free so I’m going to go have coffee with another Triumph buddy before getting to setting up that new work bench and avoiding phone calls.

It was really nice yesterday, so out I went. I think I will start the winter prep on the Ural this afternoon; muffs, remove the sidecar windshield and fit the tonneau, break out the winter helmet.

Do©Hawk 11-16-2023 12:08 PM

I've been riding to work all week. Temps in the mid 20's on my way in, mid 40's - 60 for the ride home. Good thing it's a short ride.

Just like skateboarding, to hell with a riding season, I'll ride when I want! Just gotta layer up.

Yup. And, I have a pair of full mitten padded sparring gloves that abolutely isolate my fingers from oncoming cold air. No kidding. :hi:

They look stupid, but I have gotten big nods at intersections from drivers in the next car. I use to use them for the gates when I did downhill slalom, decades ago for cryin out loud! :lmao:

I'm using these when it's cold. Tough to beat for $10. They're stupid warm.

I searched the description and found them. They look OK, but I will stick with my goofy sparring gloves. When that's not enough I park it!

Everytime I try to share a link, I get that "super offers" screen. Here's a screen shot.

I did. I wear them when it's cold. They are very warm and touchscreen functional, but like many of the reviews state, the thumbs are a bit long. Not a deal breaker, but decreases dexterity a little for operating signals and such. At only $10, I'll live with that. They do what I bought them for. Keep me warm.

The only way I would ride to work in the snow is with a sidecar. There is a side car behind the Vespa. Not as good on ice and snow as a Ural but it worked quite well. One cold morning when my wife needed the car I rode 7 miles to work at -18°F. The cables were so stiff I had to pull the brake peddle up with my toe to release it. Never again.https://www.chinariders.net/picture....pictureid=2311

Zapkin 12-23-2023 08:22 AM

JerryHawk250 12-23-2023 01:06 PM

I've been sick since Tuesday night. Today is the first time I feel halfway decent. Beautiful weather right now to ride but not taking the chance to have relapse.

buzz 01-26-2024 06:21 PM

Me too! Rode to work today. 60° on my way in and about 45° for my ride home. It's the only time I didn't think about my stomach bothering me today.

Zapkin 02-02-2024 08:43 AM

it was only 40 degrees but for some reason, the Hawk fired right up. She is clean and she is beautiful, and I am taking her out on the road today.

riderjoe 05-09-2024 10:38 PM

Since it's cloudy and there's a chance of rain this weekend, I decided to do some late-night groceries on my bike in case I can't ride in the weekend.
