Amigo Baja 250 Enduro CARB approved

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this bike. It's CARB approved, so registerable in CA. Is the bike comparable to others on the market?

Thank you for your input :thanks:

Kind of looks like an importer bringing a competitor to the KPX250 to market. A 250cc 6 speed EFI dual sport, just without the Lifan name and warranty to go with it. I think I would spend the extra 200 bucks and get the Lifan personally, but it's interesting.

Looks like the new 2023 Honda XR150L may come from the same factory as the Baja.

Agree. I would also choose the KPX but it's not street-legal in CA. I checked with LIFAN

I like that Honda so hopefully the pricing, availability, and fitting of the bike will work for me.

That Baja is probably your only current option. I'm betting that XR150L will sell for more than the Baja, if you can even find one to buy. I'd also be checking Craigslist and other sites for used bikes.

Fair enough. I have the luxury of not living in Kaliforniastan.

strange ad.....no mention of the selling point of fuel injection (that I see),...but it does have a 6 speed belt drive cvt engine.

Beware

Scrolling to the bottom of that "360 Motorsports" page, I see that it's located in Arlington, TX.
... another "Manny" storefront?

Do you REALLY want to deal with (chase) that character? GOOD LUCK

I believe these bikes are Boom!/Baodiao models. They use the same engines as the full-size Boom!/Baodiao (e.g. cruiser) 250 bikes from Venom and Powersportsmax. Boom! has a couple pictures of the bike on their own site. I had been in contact with Pete from Kronik Racing since he deals with Boom! and their Vaders and he told me how much Boom! were planning on selling them for, and I told him that even with CARB approval and fuel-injection, I couldn't imagine people paying more for them than CSC's TT250, as those are also available for Californians.

Amigo also re-brands Boom!'s CT70 clone, the Amigo Rocky 125, which is also CARB certified for street use. Unlike the semi-auto transmission of the Icebear CT70 clone, the Amigo uses a manual 4-speed (probably the same engine as what is in the Vader since they are certified on the same EPA/DOT and CARB certifications), and I am sure Boom! imported a containerload of the enduros, so they are probably happy to partner with Amigo to sell them. I am surprised Venom did not pick them up considering their relationship with Boom! and the attraction of CARB certification. Probably a high-ish wholesale price is my guess.

Sparse information on the specifications. I prefer knowing more. Who made that engine? What is the actual displacement? Shock? Forks? Adjustable? That is a cheap looking swingarm. Nothing like the better swingarm you see on the KPX or Templars. More like the Hawk, TBR7 and Bashan Storm swingarms. And those bikes cost more than $1000 less.

When you are a comrade of Kalifornistan, you take what your overlords allow you to have!

Here is the link to Baodiao/Boom!'s US site. Kind of an industrial site with sparse information, but it does show two different dual-sports that they had planned/did import. They don't show the 250cc sport bikes offered by Venom and Powersportsmax among others, but a few of the bikes are familiar. The CT70 clone is the one they private label for Amigo, and is certified under the same certificate as the Vader and the vintage-looking 125 bike shown. http://www.baodiaomt.com/MOTORCYCLE_SCOOTER_BIKE/

I wish somebody would import one of the modernized vrsions of the CT90/110/Postie bikes over here to the U.S. The real deal is hard to find here in good shape, or for a good price anymore.

The honda C70's hers are pushing AUD$5000+ which is a lot for what they are.

CT110s are hitting premiums too as the postal service switched to NB110 and then electric trikes in some locations. Making the classic postie a rarer prospect...So much less the same issue here as in the USA.

All the new fleet Honda '125' fleet bracket is expensive where a royal enfield is a cheaper more rounded bang for buck.

I see the occasional monkey bike but nobody is really buying the low cc hondas in my neck of the woods.

I'd just like to have a C70/clone as a mantle piece.

Be cheaper for me to book a flight to SE Asia and dismantle a C70 as return luggage "bike parts".

That sucks. I hope a CARB version will come out later. I don't see a CARB bike equivalent to the KPX anyplace.

The SSR XF250 is CARB approved and fairly close in quality to the Lifan. It uses a clone Suzuki 249cc engine.
