Hey guys new to fullsize dirt bikes and Chinese bikes in general. Ordered this bike from China but can't really find any info on it. Any info or pointers appreciated. Need to know what should be my first things to do And what I should do to break it in. Shane.

Welcome aboard! Nice looking bike but never seen that one. Where you buy it from? One thing i can tell you is to replace the oil that came with it.

SKRITE 09-14-2022 01:26 PM

What weight oil should I use and what's a good coolant? Yea it's a Alibaba bike but as I looked thru the pictures I kept seeing water cooled bikes and price wasn't much higher. I just can't find any info on what style clone motor this is.

Most bikes will use 10w40 motorcycle oil rated for wet clutch. What weight oil does the owners manual say? How was it getting through customs?

JerryHawk250 09-14-2022 02:01 PM

DO you have a link to where you bought it?

Sport Rider 09-14-2022 02:02 PM

I'm curious how the process went to get it on-shore and delivered to you.

any markings on the motor? size or manufacturer?

SKRITE 09-14-2022 03:03 PM

That's my biggest issue is there no real manufacturer listed. Doesn't come with a manual or anything. There's several shippers thru Alibaba since it seems to be the same mass produced motorcycle that locals use. Had no issues with customs but took about 3 months with shipping delays they had in China. Gonna touch base with seller again to try and get paperwork.

Engine looks to be similar to the ZongShen CB250-A (ZongShen169 engine).

Just got home and duh right on the side zongshen. Its stamped 167FMM-B on the bottom and then 249cm3 on the cylinder head. So are these zongshen 250cc motors pretty much all the same?

Sport Rider 09-15-2022 08:24 AM

yes, they are all pretty much the same and you got yourself a good motor there. I'd really like to know more about where you bought it and how you got it through customs, etc.

Falkon45 09-15-2022 08:37 AM

Ahhh. Looks like a Zongshen CB250. The frame looks a little like a CRF150 clone, but water cooled.

Could be something SSR offers, also. Not sure.

Definitely a nice bike, though. Please, let us know the process you went through to get the bike here. I saw quite a few bikes on alibaba that I want, but wasn't sure just how much a PITA it would be to get it here. lol.

SKRITE 10-05-2022 10:22 AM

Hey guys been busy moving and hurricane. The bike is just called an R8 model. There's several shippers on Alibaba that sell them. The total cost to me with shipping was 1780$. Just got the manual and title. Rode over the weekend and it's pretty fun so far for the price. No issues with customs. But did take about 3 months because China had a bad tropical storm that slowed shipping.

do you have details on the seller? I've run into several that are obvious scams.

Not sure if I can. Post link but this is the distributor I bought from I used them mainly cause they accepted PayPal. Donghai Fantu Auto parts is the distributor I bought from. https://dhxft.m.en.alibaba.com/feeds...g=sns_minisite

The video of the "water cooled 250cc adult bike" on that page is of a dirt bike with an air cooled engine! You were brave to go for it!

Nice looking bike for sure (that you actually got).

That sure looks like a YouAll carb bowl, kind of boxy shaped.

Congratulations! Great price for a 249cc bike, but the 167 diameter piston should be a 229cc engine. Puzzling, But still...You Scored!

And you got lights! I wonder if you will be able to insure and plate the thing?

Also, that seems to be a standard petcock with a 3 position dual circuit selector (reserve). Awesome!
