Valve adj now ruff / low / no idle (problem solved)

Well I lowered my engine and adjusted my valves to .05mm in and .08mm out. The intake was too tight and the exhaust was too loose. I also installed a oil cooler. Now my bike wont idle. The idle varies 500 or so rpm and is way low and the bike will stall if I don't keep on the throttle. Its always been rock solid before. Would the valves being out of adjustment do this? In the past when I've seen this it was a vacuum leak. I had the T on the flywheel lined up and both rocker arms had play.

Vacuum leak..

You double sure you were on the compression stroke?Easy to overlook.

I forget will both valves be closed at TDC exhaust stroke and I seem to remember something about an uneven idle with the valves too tight?

They should be closed.

I missed the part about exhaust stoke, sorry.

I rotate the engine until I see intake valve move. Then I start looking for the TDC mark.

Ok now Iam more confused (easily done) should both valves be closed at TDC on the exhaust stroke?

Both valves should be closed on the compression stroke at top dead center. TDC on the exhaust stroke should have the exhaust valve somewhat open, and the intake valve opening.

Thanks for the info.

All of this TDC stuff is too confusing for me
I just turn the crank until one valve is fully open
Then you know that the other one has to be fully closed

That's the other way to do it. But for people who have never done this before, TDC on the compression stroke is less intimidating....ARH

Still sounds like a vacuum like to me so before I disassemble my bike again Ill check for leaks. My mind says vacuum leak but my intuition says valves.

Where would you have a vacuum leak?

Did you remove the carb?

Do you have the smog stuff still on that would be the only place that any vacuum would be produced.
