Hawk 250 Battery Replacement / Upgrade

I guess it goes without saying that our Hawks come with the world's cheapest battery. So if anyone is looking for a better replacement I found a great Lithium Iron option that works. Actually, there are two different ones.

I did a complete write up with tons of instructions and photos on my blog at:
http://onemansblog.com/hawkbattery

But here's the summary:

Ultra Compact Battery Tender BTL09A120C - $70
http://amzn.to/1TkLMlX

Battery Tender BTL14A240C Direct Size Replacement - $90
http://amzn.to/1Tvr6u6

Definitely recommend the larger one. 240 CCA starts the bike so fast it's crazy.

is a trickle charger necessary? My Hawk sat from November through February and started right up with the crappy china battery but now it's acting up......
