It has been a while since I've posted a picture of this beauty, just wanted to share it with you all. There is a thread going on in the street only section about a 400 retro bike, and it reminded me of my Royal Enfield.

About 4000 miles on the machine, no problems. It continues to get great responses wherever it goes, and remains a pleasure to ride.

It is made in India, as most of you know. Even though it is not a "Chinese bike", I think that it still gives me credibility on the China Riders forum because the "build quality" and reputation, of Chinese and Indian motorcycles is similar.

That natural art type sculpture on the side of the road is fascinating. By the way, welcome to the forum! Where are you from?

Never heard of that make. Those are BEAUTIFUL bikes. I see simplicity and art all wrapped together, or maybe it's the rum talking, but I'd take one of those in a heartbeat.

Love the RE retro styled bikes. My dad had a British built RE 750 back in the late 1950s. The first time I got a ride on it, sitting on the tank in front of my dad, I knocked his hand off the clutch and put the front wheel through the garage wall.

It really is a nice looking bike ,is it inexpensive because it's Indian ,or is it an expensive bike ?

The Royal Enfield is a fascinating motorcycle with a very interesting history.

They are quite inexpensive. Mine was a leftover 2014 I bought in 2015 for less than $5,000. Granted that's not CB inexpensive but this is an extraordinary machine with heritage.

The Indians do a good job making them, and they hold up well and are very durable. They are used by tour companies to cross the Himalaya mountians, on and off pavement etc.

Like CB's they have some little problems. Leaks at the kickstart seal are common. Broken speedometers. Battery cable terminal ends fracture. Chains need replacement and are a bit of a PIA to adjust. Wonky fuel injection. Stuff like that.

I was interested in the Royal Enfields for awhile and remember watching these videos. Check them out. Some true artists in my opinion.

The pinstriping man is amazing. I read somewhere that all the Enfields are pinstriped by one of only two people.

He did a good job on mine. Basically perfect but clearly painted by a human and not a robot.

Hard to tell on the camera angle but the fenders are also chrome, and maroon with gold pinstripes to match the rest of the bike.

I am still planning on trying to get a look at one of these REs in person hopefully this summer.

From a philosophical point of view at least, I consider my ownership of the Enfield to allow me access to the China bike community ;-)
