Last Summit Ride: Remembering Warmer Days
This morning the overnight low temperature was minus 12 degrees, Fahrenheit. The wind chill at that time was minus 26 degrees, Fahrenheit. The current temperature is 11 degrees, Fahrenheit. :ohno:
I shouldn't complain. We had magnificent fall weather, and the winter temperatures have actually been much milder than normal. The following photographs were taken over a month ago, on the first of November. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...psf06f841e.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps8ebd30bb.jpg In the above photograph, the Grand Teton Range in Wyoming is visible on the horizon, directly over the bike's right hand guard. Here's a closeup photograph of Grand Teton Peak, which is 109 aerial miles distant from the motorcycle. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps4193350e.jpg With a normal winter snowfall, I won't be riding back to this summit until July. http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...psef9c9ae4.jpg http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps3fc07936.jpg |
Lovely pictures. I think the snow really highlights the natural beauty of those vistas. I have found that amount, up to maybe an inch of so, to be easy to ride in. I guess it all depends on its consistancy and the terrain under it, and your tires.

:hehe: If you bring Brother Roger to Idaho, I will take you both on the single track ascent to that summit. ;) http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/q...psad22910a.jpg |
I PROMISE WE WILL COME!
I already made Roger promise :-) That looks like a great trail! Better be careful... |
Thanks for posting the pics......pretty amazing

Thank you, gentlemen. :)
Since you so graciously reminded me, Bill, here is the countdown clock to the official start of winter. >: http://mycountdown.org/widget_design...FFFFF&fwdt=150  |
Here are some more photographs from the same ride.

Look at it this way: only 12 days until the days begin to get longer again!
