Easter Ride

Son of Weldangrind and I did all of the chores that SWMBO laid out for us, so we got to go for a quick ride before guests came for Easter dinner. We headed straight up the mountain.

Here's what we went through to get there. Quite a surprise!

Here are some views from the top. The crummy camera I have does not do justice to the amazing view. We were high enough that we could see the Pacific ocean!

I zoomed in for this one. If you squint really hard, you can see Midlife's house. Hi Midlife!

This is a view of the area North of the Fraser River, a little further down the mountain.

Great day! Happy Easter to all. :D

great day for a ride....you should just sell me your atv

You're right! I need to give my quad some love real soon. The nice thing about DS bikes is no need for a trailer.

Awesome country and beautiful pics, Weld.

You and SOWAG are blessed to have such a good relationship and a common interest.

Both bikes look great.

I echo Doc's sentiments to a Tee, beautiful pics! :D

Nice pics, beautiful area!

Looks like your son might need some better footwear for those treks.

Thanks guys! :D This is an activity that we can both really enjoy together, despite the typical father / son head bashing that takes place. It's our intention to not only map out all of the local roads, but to build a better DS bike for him as well. We're hoping to start on the KLR250 soon.

katoranger 04-09-2012 11:54 AM

I think that KLR with china power will be a good ride.

FastDoc 04-09-2012 01:02 PM

It's gonna be a more involved fir that's for sure. Kawasaki's were not made for Honda engines!

That is what welders and grinders are for. I made a horizontal fit into a suzuki and it actually work. 8O

My thoughts exactly! We're currently trying to fit a horizontal Honda clone into an old Yamaha YB100, and we'll also take a stab at the CG230 in the KLR250. Chinese Honda clone power in everything!

We figure that the CG230 will be a good choice. Big enough to make suitable power, but air cooled so we can get rid of the rad. Son of Weldangrind loves the feel of the CG in his XR200R, so he's sold on the project. TeamCheap has done engine transplants, and I believe that makenzie71 has as well.

katoranger 04-09-2012 04:32 PM

I think that the engines are close enough in size and shape to make it a pretty straightforward swap. It may be more difficult to get the wiring sorted.

Weldangrind 04-09-2012 04:41 PM

On that note, I'd like to get a China DS harness. Where would you recommend I buy one? If it came with handlebar switches, that would be a bonus.

katoranger 04-09-2012 04:43 PM

I recommend you buy a donar bike.

Weldangrind 04-09-2012 05:48 PM

They're too pricey here. I'm hoping to find the harness, or else I'll build one.
